One bit of dialogue always bothered me about the Enterprise-E deflector dish - Hawk: "Well, if we set our phasers to full power..." Picard: "No! [...] if we hit the dish, it's charged with antiprotons - we could destroy half the ship." You're telling me that the deflector dish, an auxiliary part of the ship's essentially armor (I know it's not an actual tactical shield generator, but still), and one of the most exposed portions of the ship, can cause catastrophic shipwide destruction after a single hit from small arms fire? I guess the Borg might have charged it themselves. But then you'd think the line would be, "they've charged it with antiprotons," which is similar pronunciation-wise but clarifies the meaning.
@Gentleman...Driver4 жыл бұрын
Maybe its not all the time charged with antiprotons...
@f38stingray4 жыл бұрын
@@Gentleman...Driver Right, but then there are still some circumstances where the ship could take a catastrophic hit if caught at the wrong time. Hence maybe it was only this one time - when the Borg were there. Then again, this is designed by the same people who filled their touchscreens with C4 so who knows.
@Gentleman...Driver4 жыл бұрын
@@f38stingray Yes, and dont forget the rocks behind each panel. Not to mention that they dont have seatbelts (I mean, really?) and their command centers are located at the most vulnerable spot on the ship, because there are not threats in space? I mean even Defiants bridge was located at "Deck 1", which is very stupid for a dedicated war ship, but thats just me. Dont ask for logic, its just a show. :)

I prefer the round streamlined taper of the original dish circa 1996. That is how the model is sculpted in the original Hallmark Enterprise E Christmas ornament and some of the early toys. However, I have noticed that some of the more recent models of the Sovereign class post-Nemesis, they softened the edges a bit in the "squared off" taper. So it's kind of a compromise between the two different designs.
