I worked in that CIC in 1976 as an Operations Specialist. Wow, I never expected to see that again. Thanks for the video!

I served on the Little Rock from Aug.'69- May '72. I was a gunner's mate, worked on the 6"/47 turret and the 5"/38 gun mount. Thanks for the tour. The space below the CIC, (the beginning of the video) was part of our division also. It was where the FT's (fire control techs) would work. Spent many non work hours down there playing cards and goofing off! Brings back so good memories.

We were on CLG4 at the same time! I was a radarman and CIC was my territory. Also, that hatch going down between the refers went into our living quarters. Every now and then we would score a tub of ice cream during replenishments.

Thank you for your service. I bet that ice-cream tasted real good

@@LarryW The pilfered ice cream was great, the only problem we had was that the crew on the messdeck would become suspicious when so many guys came up looking for spoons. It was a 5gal tub and it had to be eaten fast!

@@everettdegrasse8478 , that reminds me of another pilfered food story. During VERTREP (vertical replenishment via helo on the fantail) G div. was in charge of taking the boxes of food off of the pallets set down by the helos. When the 50lb boxes of frozen steaks would arrive we would take 2-3 and hide them in the 6" turret up forward on the main deck. Then later that day on the next we would share them with the GMMs/FTMs of GM division. We would put the boxes way aft on the fantail, the FTMs would test fire the Talos rocket radars. They would cook up the steaks in a minute. They would shut off the radar, we would skapper aft, pick up the boxes and take them on top of the missile house and have a quick steak feast! Great times!!!

Electronic warfare was a compartment inside CIC we kept it locked during tours. The WLR-1was a receiver it could pick all kinds of signals. Sometimes we would listen to radio stations.

Hello mate. I was an OS3 on the Rock back in '76 before it was decommissioned. I remember the EWs. I actually got to go to an EW trainer later for two weeks in Norfolk where we were taught to use the WLR-1. Good memories.

A funny story while doing a North Atlantic cruise on this ship. I was called down to those refrigeration rooms about a gas leak. When a cook went for food the airtight door blew open when he unlocked it. I determined that the gas was non explosive. Freon causes a flame to glow green. This gas would put a flame out. Earlier in the day they received a shipment of ice cream from Germany. Inside the pallet was dry ice, the source of the gas.

Thoroughly enjoyed you video Larry. I'm glad I watched to the end as you walked through the galley passageway (where I was a cook until her decommissioning) and onto the mess deck where I spent the majority of my time. I plan to visit the Little Rock in the summer for the first time in 46 years. Thank you for the video Larry. Well done sir.

The narrator immediately lost all credibility in the opening when he called the ship a guided missile destroyer instead of a cruiser.
