USS Ranger Announcement

The USS Ranger Foundation is pleased to announce their most significant donation to date consisting of all land needed to house the Ranger complex. This donation comes from local developers Columbia Edgewater, LLC, a group dedicated to the Ranger project and improving livability of the area and includes over 20 acres of riverfront property on the Columbia and over 10 acres of submersible land leases.

My dad was a plank owner on the ranger. He would tell us kids stories all the time about being on her. He was so proud of her as we were of him.

I was stationed onboard the USS RANGER CV-61 from 81-83...I have many wonderful memories from that command...CAPT PEDERSON was the COMMANDING OFFICER...It was an honor to serve under his command. Would do it again in a heartbeat...I was a cook in both forward and aft kitchens..I still remember it like it was yesterday....I know you're decommissioned now...But thanks for the great memories.

I was a cook as well onboard the ranger early '86 thru late '89. Good times. Made San Diego my home afterward for 11 yrs

Great ship. I was ship's company as a young Fireman (E-1 to E-3) from 1980 to 1982 down in 3MMR. I came back to the ship in 1986 as an Airedale with VF 2 for the 1987 and 1989 cruises. So I got to work down in the bilges and up on the flight deck, a great Navy ship.

I enjoyed my time on the Ranger...and was my 1st of 5 carriers. I was assigned to Weapons/ G1 Div! All of those unforgetable deployments....and yes...the Phillippines ! I been trying to look my ol friend AN Marcos Cruz....my hang out buddy from S3 Div.

The Midway is museum in San Diego, why not the ranger. I was on the Ranger from 90-93 V-1 Crash and Salvage and I am disappointed that they took the crash shack off the of the roof. The need to keep the Ranger if they can keep the Midway, the Midway is not that special, or at least as far as I am concerned

HS-2 80 to 82, onboard the Ranger. Serving aboard the Ranger was a whole lot better than serving aboard the Kitty Hawk.
