I was a plank owner on the Simon Lake, enjoyed the many views in this video and it is a tribute to all the crews who ever served on her, clean and well maintained all those years later. Gary P. Clark TM2, also the helmsman for Special Sea and Anchor and other times at sea. Sure beat the hell out of the old USS Bushnell AS-15, for space and smells. Also was on the USS Hunley AS-31 as I was too short in my enlistment to stay in Holy Loch. Didn't like the Hunley near as much for several reasons not the fault of the ship.

Served on Simon Lake 73-76 in Rota, Spain. HT2 in R-1 when I left the ship. Surprised there were no watch on the open bridge. That was my duty station when out to sea. R-1 stood starboard watch forward of the signalmen shack.

Lol I'm from Denver and a big Broncos Fan and in part two at around 1:05 min in front of Post Office somebody yells something about Elway, and I think they were referring to me! Can't make it all out though. thanks again!

Hi, I'm the one who got volunteered to admin this as well as the SimonLakeAssociation.org website as I get time. We were on her at much the same time. I came aboard in Bremerton in 1970 and stayed on until I got out in 1972. I was a DP2. I wish the quality was better, but I think it is still good to see her and remember.

Hi, I'm just take care of the website and the KZbin channel when I get stuff to post. If you search the Simon Lake Facebook pages you may find the original folks who made and posted the video. I'm glad it took you back home for a little while. I think it does for all of us, but especially those that were on when it was made.
