ROUND 8 is when the killer weapon fires.

You are totally right, it fires in round 8 for Species 8472 Bio-ship both invisible ones and those in ticketed systems. What is interesting, those Hirogen hostiles also seems to have a bit strongert kick, but in round 10.

This is great and all, but what if you don't have a 42 uncommon ship or 50+ ship then? Just mine? I know for instance that a max tier D4 can't handle the lowest token system. IS mining the best way then?

Good point... then you have 2 options - prioritize Voyager cargo research and use it for mining or use your best miner with Quark and his side kicks, or maybe add an officer that boosts protected cargo - and mine. But depending on your server ROE it might go better or worse.
