It was great to have - Esposito - Henderson - Clarke - Bergman - Gilbert - But where were ORR and HULL ?

I love how both systems learned from each other in this iconic series

Pavel Bure's father won bronze 100 meter swimming in 1972 olympics! USA Mark Spitz won Gold! North America USA and Canada had better training in 1972 and better medical doctors! I knew in 1972 it will be tough for Canada! Soviets against us Finland 6,8 goals-1,8 goals! I calculeted Canada two times better offence and defence so we got 3,6 goals for Canada and 3,4 goals for Soviets! Canada never faced 5 man unit Great passing and skating!

29:02 - I want to explain the behavior of Boris Mikhailov who hit Phil Esposito in the groin with a club. In the sixth and seventh matches, the Canadians raised the level of brutality against the Soviet players. Kharlamov missed the meeting because of a deliberate hit by Bobby Clarke. The Soviet leadership were prohibited to openly fight the Soviet hockey players. This was considered a compromise of the Soviet way of life. There was only one weapon left-invisible and hidden blows. Later, Mikhailov's fight with Bergman was a glaring event for the Soviet audience. This once again shows the intensity and desire of the Canadians to pull the series in their favor.

Soviet crowd seems to be very much into it. Don't know why people talk about Soviet crowds being apathetic. Yakushev-Shadrin = great.

Kharlamov was incredible. Clarke, made sure he was neutered. I liked it at the time, but now? I dunno. It was a series changer though. But a brutal moment.

When Canada got in shape -- got its legs so to speak in game 6 -- it was over for the Russians. Even then with their superior conditioning, their culture proved to be their Achilles heel
@PavelSTL4 жыл бұрын
LOL winning by one goal late in the game most of which was played in the Canadian zone is "over for the Russians"? You don't know much about hockey, do you?
@jimturner49374 жыл бұрын
PavelSTL i know enough that the team with the most goals at The end of the game wins. That’s not how hockey is played in USSR is it!
@PavelSTL4 жыл бұрын
@@jimturner4937 your comment had nothing to do with the official rules in the book, but rather assertion that the Russian team had no chance of winning when the Canadians got their legs back. Anybody who watched the game and knows anything about playing hockey can tell you there's nothing further from reality. Cheers.

@stephanejulien72215 жыл бұрын
