UST (Underground Smart Technology Tools) integrates TL-W5MC1 Sensor which is used as a metal detector, then, DHT11 sensor is used to detect organic waste based on its humidity level.
Furthermore, HC-SR04 sensor (Ultrasonic sensor) is used to detect if there is garbage on the hinge and to measure the amount of garbage inside the bin.
When only the metal sensor detects the trash, the servo will rotate to the Metal bin. Conversely, when only the DHT11 detects the trash, the servo will rotate to the Organic (Wet) bin and when neither the metal sensor nor the DHT11 detects anything, the servo will rotate to the Non-Organic (Dry) bin.
The sensor also sends real time notification via smartphone and computer about the data in the bins with the help of App through wi-fi with Arduino board. The recycling team will also receive notification of the data in the bin from the app and how each type of waste is treated.
