The mood of this raag is associated with "regret", "longing" and "contemplation". Can't call either of them happiness or sorrow. However, it's perhaps closer to sorrow than happiness.

Raag Lalit ki gehrai kitni hai, ye shabdon mein bayan karna asambhav hai, aur khaskar jab wo ustad amir khan sahib ke gale se nakalti ho. Sab terah ka Sangeet ek din khatm ho jayega, Lekin ye daawe ke saath kaha ja sakta hai, hamare shastriya sangeet ke ye raag aur ustad amir khan jaisi log sada amar rahenge. Inki mrityu na hui hai aur na kabhi hogi.

The Shrutees between two Madhyams are heard here clearly. These were absent in the singing of other Maestroes, though everyone of Maestroes deserves due respect.
