In the late 80s , as a young teenaged boy and a bit of a rebel, I would wander all over Mumbai. Being a Maharashtrian Brahmin by birth ofcourse comfort food would beckon and I would wander about the bylanes of Girgaum Thakurdwar around sunset and I remember sitting in my granny’s place eating a simple meal with such music playing in the background. Today she’s gone, her old place was torn down in the name of development, the entire locality has been transformed and I’m stuck overseas with the possibility of ever returning to my home country becoming bleaker everyday. I listen to this with a glisten in my eye. All those sweet memories of the carefree youth just come flooding. It was a time when we were all free, healthy and happy without much technology.

I have on KZbin listened to some nearly top 50-60 classical singers both from India and Pakistan. I must confess without belittling their reputation & greatness that the legendary Ustaad Late badey Fateh Ali Khan Shahab is always one step head of them all. His unique style & gravely voice are like honey in the ears of his fans. God bless him.

Ustad Fateh Ali Khan was the last of the legends and authentic torchbearers of the Patiala ghrarana. Sadly, none of the descendants showed the same quality. Hamid Ali Khan showed promise but faded after Fateh Ali Khan died. Of the third generation (after BGAK) only Naqi Ali Khan had the flame within him. Among the Indian disciples of the Patiala Gharana, Pandit Ajoy Ckakraborty is truly a master. His early singing captures the Patiala style and is outstanding. *Laage Re Nainaan Tum Se, (trad. "I miei occhi incontrarono i tuoi" - لاگے رے نینںا تم سے*) لاگے رے نیناں تم سے پیا مورے laage re nainaan tum se piya more Da quando i miei occhi hanno incontrato i tuoi, mia amata گھڑی پل چھن نہیں چین پرت ہے ghaṛi pal chhin naheen chain parat hai Non per un istante il mio cuore trova pace جب سے پیا پردیس گیو رے jab se piya pardes gayo re Da quando te ne sei andato lontano da qui, mia amata دیکھی صورتیا دیر بھیو رے dekhi sooratiya der bhayo re Non vedevo l'ora di vedere la tua faccia بنتی کرت ہوں میں binati karat hoon principale ti supplico پیّاں پرت ہوں paiyaan parat hoon imploro ai tuoi piedi لاگے رے نیناں تم سے پیا مورے laage re nainaan tum se piya more I miei occhi hanno incontrato i tuoi, amore mio میں دکھیاری برہا کی ماری principale dukhyaari birha ki maari Sono una vittima infinita del dolore della tua separazione جاگ گزاروں رتیَن ساری jaag guzaaroon ratiyan saari Passo notti insonni desiderandoti بنتی کرت ہوں میں binati karat hoon principale ti supplico پیّاں پرت ہوں paiyaan parat hoon imploro ai tuoi piedi

your lord har raag ki ek specific chalan, particular swaro ki patterns hoti hain jo raag ki pehchan hoti hai... Time and experience ke sath aap kisi bhi gaane mein swaro ke patterns sunke raag pehchan sakte hain
@Stringfreak6 жыл бұрын
To put it in simple terms, there is a particular melody to each raag. Some phrases will be very prominent. If you have experienced ears, you'll find those phrases. For instance, Raag Bhopali doesn't have "Ma" and "Ni" in the sargam. So it has a particular melody or "Chalan". No matter how many different bandish or songs you hear in raag bhopali, you'll see the melodies are pretty similar. Listen to "Dil hoom hoom kare" after this one and see if you find similarities in the two melodies. :)
