what a beautiful artist that Ustad Rashid Khan was. A fabulous musician. The Great Bhimsen Joshi in one of his interviews said the future of Hindutani music was in the hands of 2 musicians - Ustad Rahid Khan and Pandit Venkatesh Kumar (something to that extent) - A great and finest compliment. The recordings of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi supported by Rashid Khan is a treat to watch.... Ustand Rashid Khan getting lost in the Panditji's music and in total awe !!! A loss but he will be treating the Gods in the heaven!

राशिद अल्लाह को प्यारे हो गये । अंदर ही अंदर कंही कुछ टूट सा गया । पुणे में सवाई गंधर्व हो या तिलक स्मारक में हो उन्हें सुनने जाते ही थे । उनका मधुवंती में गाया खयाल मुझे मन की दुखी अवस्था मे बड़ा मददगार होता था । ना कि मरहम के तौर पे बल्कि उसी अवस्था में कुछ वक्त के लिए जिने के वास्ते ! मैने उसका जिक्र अपने कथा संग्रह में भी किया है । Lovely राशिद रहे । अल्लाह उन्हें जन्नत में ही रखेंगे ।

His maturity and command over the ragas can be seen at such a young age ( early 90's) when he was already acknowledged as the future of Classical music. I listened to raag Malkauns first time in 94. It's just mind blowing. Had listened earlier of others. But, Rashid Bhai was simply great. Malkauns was it's best. Darbari, Megh, Puriya, all ultimate. He's unparalleled, unexcelled. A complete musician .
