I can't believe how beautiful the melody is!Nobody else could do better justice to this beautiful thumri than Ustad Rashid Khan..His voice reaches straight to the heart...Just notice how gracefully he delivers each note!thats pure elegance....

I fully agree with you and I think the reason is the later - the people responsible for running the AIR are not bothered or even may not be aware of the value of the treasure the AIR possesses. What concerns me the most is - one day this treasure will be lost or be engulfed in a fire and we will not have any backup records. If Mantralaya in Bombay can catch fire, it is not difficult for an AIR archives to catch fire; and if that happens it will be a great tragedy !!

It is available in CD.-The album is THE BEST OF THUMRIS - by Music India. There are two CDs with thumris rendered by other artists. like - Girija Devi, Bhimsen Joshi,Shoba Gurtu,Shuba Mudgal and Ajoy Chakrabarty.
