Ustad Vilayat Khan Raga: Shree and Bhairavi

In this performance Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahib offers his condolences for the loss of Ustad Ahmad Jan Khan Thriakwa . May God Bless Both of them. Please note that this is probably one of the best of my collection of Khan Sahib, I have had it for long time, don't even remember who gifted me this gem but I am grateful and thank him and now I am sharing it with you fans of khan Sahib.

Best Shree recording by VK sahib. Great Bhairvin too. Worth preserving for posterity. He sang with his sitar showing his great sweet voice. A few years before this, in the 50s and early 60s he had the most astounding voice for classical vocal. Lost it through smoking habits later on. What a genius was this man. Thank you Adina Sahib.

This is the rendition of Raag Shree I have wanted to hear performed by Ustad Vilayat Khan. The one on an India Archive is an eccentric rendition that strays from the essential qualities of the raag.

Dear HAIDAR SAHAB, I was the same person PADMAKAR who requested you to upload this recording , if you remember , which I mentioned that my recording was shared with Raju Aokan sahab through my friend in BOSTON.... YOU ARE DOING US A GREAT SERVICE.. Infact I was only appreciating. I myself have tons of recorings, it is unfotunate that I am living alone in NIGERIA , and your uploads are MY ONLY OXYGEN .. I have been collecting Khan sahab since i was 14 years, begging people to let me have Khan sahab's recordings. I used to do riyaz hearing these recordings in my 20s . Although my uncle was shaagird of Imrat Khan sahab , I never asked him, but chose to collect alone. I am 54 today and your uploads are taking me taking me into my past So, kindly dont misunderstand me '..' I know what it takes to do, what you have been doing. It is just providence and the will of GOD that I saw a person like you who is sharing all these things. I was FORBIDDEN to share all this, but when I was learning from SHAHID PARVEZ in the 80s, I gave all my collections to him, that also inlcude Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahab's recordings which were compiled by another GOD called Fahim Husaain sahab in the USA ( who shared it my unkee, when he was performing on a tour in the USA in the 90s ..So please DO NOT MISUDERSTAND. If you are ok with me sharing some of my humble recordings with you, I shall, if I have your contacts . I am available on my Nigerian mobile number [phone]. This SHREE is also my most valuable recording. When I was speaking to my friend in Boston, he told me that this SHREE was never uploaded and hence this request.. SO THANKYOU A TON !

Most of the recordings of the second half of the concert mostly Ragmalika are incomplete due to running out of tape or cassettes etc. I suggest if you have a list to share with me or someone else to see what is not shared and find means to help you upload if you like. you may email me. My paternal uncle has been a student of Imrat Khan Sahab and my closest friend SANDEEP APTE used to be in Khan sahab's house in Calcutta to take taleem from him le Kindly Ask RAJU ASOKAN if you happen to know him. A common friend in BOSTON has all my recordings of Khan Sahab. If you are in connect with him, kindly do speak with him.
