Can you ski from Alta Badia to Cortina d'Ampezzo and back in one day?

This is one of the many questions we get:
"Can you ski from Alta Badia to Cortina d'Ampezzo and back in one day?"
Well, the answer is simply YES and with some special planning, you are also able to enjoy a great lunch in a characteristical mountain hut at the feet of the Tofana.
If in the last season this trip would need some more detailed planning because there was the need to take an extra skibus, now that's not needed anymore thanks to the brand new "Cortina Skyline" gondola that connects the Bai de Bones (aka 5 Torri area) to the Socrepes (above Pocol - Cortina) area.
This is a long video, but below you can find the links to skip towards the chapters you would like to watch. I didn't want to cut it too much because the descents in Cortina are simply amazing and fun. Not to mention that the hard slopes there are mostly empty because Cortina tourists are usually leisure skiers that like more to stay at the huts or in the town center braving how good they are at skiing 😂😂

What a fantastic video of the most beautiful ski area in the Alps. We have been coming here in Alta Badia and Val Gardena with our kids since 2002, but we didn't realize that you can go to Cortina relatively easily from Alta Badia. We look forward to the new videos every time to get new ideas.

I just live "below" the mountains and I've the first lift 150 meters from our house 😉. So yes, our kids learned first how to ski than to walk 😂 I've been in Park City in 2004 skiing all the resorts around there. Alta was the one I preferred most.

Un mese fa con due miei amici siamo partiti da ortisei al mattino dalla funi del seceda siamo andati a cortina abbiamo fatto 5 piste la è siamo tornati. Non eravamo sicuri di poter arrivare proprio a ortisei, il nostro obbiettivo era fare almeno il Gardena poi anche un autobus sarebbe andato bene. Invece siamo riusciti a arrivare a ortisei.

Your videos are fantastic and your sons are going to be serious ski racers . Where in the Dolomites would you recommend for 8 guys ,all intermediate skiers who like noisie bars and good food , we are all mature from 50 to 80 (me) not a quiet place please, with good intermediate skiing.I would appreciate your advise. You take the horse-tow at the end of the Armentarola ski slope (=the real name) that someone call the "Hidden Valley slope". I just took it once to show it on video like here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaHJaauOmq6nhKMsi=1-h_X45dTN5SMqfV&t=1037 We always skip this one by just passing by and with some short skating moves you are much faster than waiting the horse tow to fill up and then all the stops because people can't hold the rope 😂😂 and crash all together.

@@giovannisalvatoremulas2719 Basta conoscere un po' la tempistica che ci si mette ad esempio dal Falzarego a casa e poi si calcolano facilmente i tempi. Infatti abbiamo ripetuto varie piste piú volte, specialmente a Ra Valles, l'Olimpia ed ovviamente ai parchi con i salti 😂😂😂😂

From Selva starting from Dantercepies it should not be a problem. If you are in another town it could be really short in time. Probably better in February when lifts closure is one hour later.

Cortina, la Regina, non sarà più la stessa dopo le Olimpiadi 2026. Tutto all'insegna del profitto, ma l'impatto ambientale durante e dopo l'evento sarà irrimediabile. Non ho vissuto il periodo delle prime olimpiadi di Cortina. Ma parlando con molti locali confermano tutti che stanno commettendo gli stessi errori delle prime. Insomma le Olimpiadi sono una "scusa" per mungere la mucca (lo Stato), costruire e rinnovare a prezzi pompati e mettere in tasca piú soldi possibili. Una volta passati poi i "giochi" (che sono giochi di potere e non sportivi) vince il piú furbo e Cortina ritornerá allo stato di Bella Addormentata fino alla prossima mungitura. 😉

Hi Igor, i’m planning the same route in less than 2 weeks. I want to ask if the shuttle from Almentarola to Passo Falzarego is included in the price of ski pass or is it necessary to pay a little extra? And one more question. On the way back I see the horse trail between Lagazuoi and Almentarola. Is it uphill? Or is it just an attraction and can be ridden without horses? I ask because i’m a bit scared of horses 🤪 Thank you in advance for the answer.

Transfer to Armentarola to Falzarego is not included in the skipass, you have to pay it extra, should be 7,50 o 8,00 € per person. Horses: tourist trap for lazy skiers. With some skating moves you cover that section easily. We always skip it.

From Arabba it's a bit tricky. I would suggest from the place you are staying if there is a taxi or cab that get in the early morning towards Passo Falzarego directly. And then you start the loop from there.

Yes I've the camera in my hand with a short pole (the longer the pole the more vibrations in the video). Dark ... depends how dark is dark for you 😉 For me it's when it's time to switch on the headlamps 😁😁

Ich habe es im März 2024 gemacht muss aber sagen es lohnt sich nicht. Man verliert viel Zeit im Verbindungslift und das Skigebiet Cortina gefällt mir nicht. Das nächste Mal bleibe ich bei den 5 Torri

The shuttle bus is 15 minutes ride and the cost is 7,00 Euro (2022 season prices). On the way back, if you mean connecting to the paddle lift, it's really just walking because of passing a road.

So bene cosa vuol dire essere primogenito e preferito, lo ero anch'io, poi anche i miei genitori mi hanno fatto la sorpresa, arrivò una sorella e sono sceso anch'io dal trono. La storia non era finita lì, perché in seguito arrivò anche un fratello, e poi ancora due sorelle. L'ultima ha quasi quindici anni meno di me ... Grazie ancora e speriamo di venirvi a trovare quest'estate, mia moglie e io!

Beautiful views, but the skiing is so so. Lots of flat runs and few nice one. It is a bit like the Sella Ronda, Lot of time on the lifts and relatively little skiing, but great video and views.

Da Canazei siete molto al limite come tempistiche. Sicuramente dovreste rinunciare ad andare a Ra Valles e saltare la pausa pranzo. Alla fine l'Alta Badia rimane sempre la localitá piú centrale per sciare in tutte le aree del Dolomiti Superski.

Puoi chimarmi Igor 😉😂 Sí certamente riesci a fare il giro al contrario senza problemi. Anzi se inizi a Cortina puoi anche farti prima Faloria, poi fai il lato di Ra Valles e nel pomeriggio (verso le 14:00) se prendi la Cortina Skyline vai via tranquillo.

Es gibt schon seit Jahren ein Project vom Incisa (unterhalb Cherz) bis Falzarego. Aber glaub mir, da bist du immer noch schneller mit den Kleinbussen vom Armentarola auf zum Falzarego.

Bellissima giornata sugli sci. Il mio ricordo è di 25 anni fa. Allora bisognava fare tratti a piedi, con pulmino, con il 🐎, ora è tutto più facile, ma meno romantico/avventuroso. Straordinari i bambini, forse è meglio dire ragazzi/a. Grazie per i vostri filmati. Alla prossima.

Cortina e Alta Badia i posti migliori in cui sciare. Il comprensorio dell'Alta Badia è insuperabile, ma Cortina ha le piste più tecniche. Sono sciisticamente cresciuto a San Vito di Cadore, ma da quando ho scoperto l'Alta Badia me ne sono innamorato. Se volete ammirare dei bei paesaggi fate un giro anche sul Civetta/Alleghe/Val Zoldana: è fantastico anche lì, per quanto gli impianti non siano un granché. P.s: la vecchia seggiovia che portava al Bus Tofana è stata dismessa a causa del forte rischio valanghe. Un abbraccio e grazie per il video

Sí posso confermare che Civetta/Alleghe/Val Zoldana (abbiamo un video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTUhpariK9_gac ) sono veramente belli. Considero sprecato solo attraversarli durante il Giro della Grande Guerra. Poi noi badioti amiamo anche le piste di Cortina e sappiamo quando andarci. Quando qua c'è il casino dell'alta stagione (Natale/Capodanno/Carnevale) veniamo a sciare a Cortina perché le piste sono semivuote ... ai proprietari di seconde case e VIP piace piú mostrarsi in paese o sulle terrazze dei rifugi che sciare 😂😂😂

If in doubt flat out seems to be the general approach your boys take. I think I might have been able to keep up just about, but my legs would have been shot after that day’s skiing !

Solito video eccezionale. Non sapevo della Cortina Skyline. Da quando c'è? per il ritorno, tanti anni fa avevo fatto il giro della grande guerra. Dai piedi del 5 torri avevo preso un bus per il Falzarego. gli impianti alle spalle del Nuvolao però non sembrano nuovi. Da quando e' connesso in salita 5 torri con Col Gallina? Secondo te, il prossimo weekend, Lagazuoi/Armentarola è ancora fattibile visto che questa settimana ci sono temperature torride? Grazie

La Cortina Skyline é nuova di pacca ed é stata aperta quest'anno. 5 Torri con il Col Gallina é connesso ormai da un bel po' di anni. Non saprei dirti da quanti ma sicuramente piú di 15. Gli impianti sono aperti fino al 3 di aprile. La notte le temperature scendono ancora sotto zero cosí che fino a mezzogiorno le piste tengono tutte bene. Poi quelle a nord tengono alla grande.

@@UstariaPosta si, è più di 15 anni. Poi ho deciso che non vale la pena per i troppi collegamenti in bus, anche se gratuiti, non come Armentarola Falzarago che è extra regione e quindi a pagamento. Ma con i tuoi video mi hai messo una voglia matta di sconfinare nel fine settimana dalla Val Di Fassa per almeno rifare il Lagazuoi. Tofane sono troppo a rischio rientro. Del resto Dolomiti super ski mi ha riattivato dal 10 MArzo lo stagionale interrotto nel 2020. Ora devo sfruttarlo.😀
