This is an incredibly accurate depiction. My agency recently responded to an active shooter incident in our community, which thankfully wasn't what it was reported to be, but the chaos and confusion is very tangible and permeates every layer of the community, from law enforcement to families that aren't even directly involved.

God I wish there were more people who understood this at a deeper more appropriate level. I am going for the killer I am not stopping for the injured or near death. In other words when the basement is flooding you do NOT take a bucket and start throwing water out of the basement you go plug the leak FIRST where the water is coming from. Put the horse before the cart people. Sorry if that sounds cold but the feelings of the victim are not important to me .... stopping the shooter before he kills and injures more innocent people is my top priority. We are here to fight threats and provide PHYSICAL safety and security NOT provide EMOTIONAL safety and security - you have shrinks for that. Discern, Understand and quit being so entitled being emotionally high maintenance when lives are at stake.

Here in Montreal, we had two incidents. In 1989, a guy shot up a university building, and the cops waited until everything was secure, whatever that means. Fourteen people were killed. About twenty years later, another lunatic was walking into another university here, carrying a rifle. By sheer luck there was a cop right behind him. There was a shootout, and one girl was killed, somebody else wounded, and the shooter was killed. He was cornered from the start. Other than dumb luck, like that last time, it's hard to see how any plan would really work.

Get more people trained and ready. More people should take personal safety into their own hands, and train. Train hard, and train often. You get more people who are able to respond immediately to this situation, the less people are gonna die. CWP and responsibility armed citizens is a fairly easy way to do this. As it stands, CWP holders are among the most law abiding citizens in the nation. Getting more people who are armed, trained, and ready, will make the defense of the nation as a whole easier.

I understand the point that's being made. The plans and strategies that we have in place are effective and beneficial once agencies are able to respond. BUT, It's not enough. There needs to be new policies put in place that ensure that first responding personnel are required to enter and engage IMMEDIATELY. Every second, every bang, is another potential life lost. If you took the oath, If you put on the badge, you promised to throw yourself in harm's way to protect innocents. You either act instantly and immediately to stop the threat, or resign immediately. I think there should be protocols put in place to be able to identify L.E. that are on scene and engaging in the chaos so that friendly fire is a non factor. Maybe have a dozen or two dozen identifiable appearance codes in practice. Responding officer radios in for this particular emergencys appearance code. Maybe it's a red hat, or a pant leg rolled up. Maybe it's to remove thier shirt, or one shoe. It has to be a clear, unique, appearance code issued on the spot and then uniformly for other responding officers to instantly identify friendlies from potential perpetrators Also, for every so many hundred minors, there needs to be a trained security guard present. They should be well educated on firearms, and concealed carrying. They should be teachers, or substitute teachers in public eye, but trained LE/defenders in private. Each individual school would be required to have one per so many students, and the combined emergency response force of these secret, last chance minor protectors would have plans in place to lockdown and defend entire school campuses. Much like a fire drill, but for active shooter scenarios. If you want to protect our youth, If you want to keep our children safe, this is the answer. Its a realistic, and attainable step toward preventing tragedies like this from happening.

~‘Only Thing That Stops a Bad Guy With a Gun Is a Good Guy With a Gun’. This is why we need to allow Campus Carry. ~We DO NOT need Red Flag Laws. If some one sees something or knows something they should say something. Call the Police. No Red Flag Law is needed to do that. ~NICS Data MUST be kept up to date. All Civil & Criminal Courts and the Military Courts must report their information on anyone convicted of breaking Laws. I know the Military does not always do this.

You want to crack down on school shootings, you’re going to have to stop bullying in its tracks. First grade. Teachers overlook it, students overlook it. It has to stop. And you all know you’ve seen it done and didn’t say anything. Severe punishment for those who do it, and follow up to make sure the bull7 doesn’t take it out on the teller.

I would hate to be a law enforcement officer in a such a situation. Does one stop or step over the dead? Does one help an injured person or find and eliminate the killer, wherever he/she is, to limit further killing/injury? These first respondents did a marvellous job: all honour and thanks to them.

5:40: The Belgian police is keeping an extra watchful eye for people using mobile phones while driving, giving the increased chance of accidents. I'm surprised to see handfree sets aren't standard equipment for US police forces; not just do they give the good example, but suppose this guy ended up in a stupid road accident involving others or even just getting of the road, that would have had a critical influence on the outcome. Showing this is something like interviewing a doctor about cancer, while he or she is enjoying yet another Camel cigarette in a smokefilled room. And no, this is NO detail.

Texas Ray Right, because the cops knew how many shooters there were, who he was , and where he was. You are right, they should have walked up to him and shot him.

Have you ever been shot in a bulletproof vest? You'll be lucky if you can even stand up. There is always a balance between trying to solve the problem instantly and trying to find out what is going on beforehand, so the responders will be more likely to survive and succeed.

90% of what law enforcement does is for the comfort of the public it’s Sort of like theatrical warfare
@ethanlareau27314 жыл бұрын
I realize the situation required planning and sound tactics, but I agree (in part) with Texas Ray. It’s probably just the way the actors portrayed the law enforcement response, but while they’re all shaking hands with each other in the parking lot and talking about this or that response team being “on the way,” the shooter is, at that very moment, inside the school mowing people down. I hope the actual response would have been quicker and more efficient. Maybe the director slowed things down to provide the viewer with all the various details involved. I don’t know...
