Have any of the European and Eurasian hybrids taken over or caused other problems in the environment. This is a concern to me in Michigan as buckthorn, asian bitter sweet, and some species of honey suckle have caused major problems.

Elms are not back!!! They are dying all over, and the new hybrids are insanely expensive, and will never become Lumber trees.

people have to start buying them to reduce the price. No uncommon specialty tree is cheap.

I just got a 7 ft tall Princeton American Elm for $119. That's not expensive at all, it's in-line with other large trees like oaks or sycamores. For instance I got a 6 ft Red Oak for the same price. Red Oak is one of the most populous trees in the country. So here in 2022 you're completely incorrect.

@@fifteenbyfive elms are not a lumber tree anymore, Red oak is a lumber tree.

@@tonymaurice4157 But why would you want its lumber over oak or maple? Maybe that was the context of the OP, that they were looking at the price of Elm lumber which would obviously be through the roof due to supply and demand. It takes time to resupply such a commodity.
