Shaquille Ali lol Priceless. I remember reading the Apter mags as a kid and looking at the USWA results and rankings, seeing the USWA Nation of Domination members' aliases, specifidally "Shaquille Ali" and being left scratching my head. Was a month or two before I found an article in one of those magazines that explained who the guys actually were. Got the tapes a couple years later, and though these were most definitely hard times for Memphis I gotta admit I was entertained then and am entertained now. The all time greats (Lawler, Dundee, Dutch) are there along with the second generation 90's top names like PG-13 & Brian Christopher and it's fun to see who else pops up on these later day USWA shows. A short-lived Fabs reunion with Jim Cornette managing was a highlight of '91. Throughout the decade we get some WWF castoffs and WWE contracted talent sent there to get some seasoning. Everyone from Flex Kavana and the future-Men on a Mission (then known as the Harlem Knights) to Lex Luger, Owen Hart, Sid Vicious & Doink the Clown. Almost forgot Aldo Montoya, on his way to becoming Justin Credible, was in the USWA briefly as an ally of PG-13, dubbed PG-187 (or was it PJ-187? one of the two) Totally enjoyed this episode. Thanks very much for the upload!

When i was in high school every saturday the USAWA was a big part of my life we did not have cable tv just to see JerryLawler and Bill superstar Dundee and other wrestler that made the USWA werstling fun to watch on WMC TV 5 in Memphis TN
@rockvilleraven10 жыл бұрын
Still call it Memphis wrestling, whether it was Mid Southern, CWA or USWA. With Cable, I could follow it on FNN/Score which broadcast sports after the stock market closed, then later it was on Public Access in Montgomery County, MD as part of Inside the Squared Circle which was a half hour of pro wrestling news and talk and then a wrestling program first was Smokey Mountain Wrestling run by Jim Cornette and this replaced after they folded. The USWA Dallas formerly World Class Championship wrestling was on Channel 50 which had wrestling weeknights at 6 for a few years.

Brown and Maclin walked out on the promotion due to changes in bookers and other political issues in which they could see the writing on the wall and decided to bail out while the getting was good. Lance Russell briefly came back before the company went belly up for good, and Dave and Corey returned for Power Pro Wrestling when it started up in 1998.

Larry Finch was a Memphis legend! Lost that heartbreaker in '73 to Bill Walton and the UCLA Bruins.. Lifetime record as a coach: 220-130... Not too bad forna small school like Memphis

You are 100% right. Here it is years later and he's remembered more for 1 WWF-tv match in 1995 than the 20 plus years he wrestled mainly in Memphis and Indy's.Thank you for acknowledging my Bother-In-Law.Take care, Greedyselfish07.

What a shame the USWA went from 15,000 fans in 1988 to performing in high school gyms in front of 25 people a decade later.

Jamie Dundee came out and did one HELL of a promo! Ripping off his NATION gear and calls out his Dad, AGAIN! 😅😅 Should have known Wolfie would jump Bill! They had an awesome feud when Woflie was Fire under the mask... I absolutely love, love me some USWA/Jarrett/Lawler Promotions..

There was a small indie TV station in the Clinton township back in Michigan that ran these shows around 1:PM on Saturdays. I used to love watching all of them in 1994/95. I think we all agree that the USWA and NWA had more unique matches and storylines than the WWF (Before the Attitude Era, of course). RIP "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher.

So USWA is now in the era of the "Monday Night Wars" where WWF and WCW are battling each other for "top promotion" with ECW now overtaking USWA as "number 3", and all the talent in wrestling is either at one of those three places, and USWA has been relegated to the just being the "farm team" for the WWF!

Steve this is right when Dave Brown, Corey Maclin, and Randy Hales all resigned and quit. This was the beginning of the end with Larry Burton, XL Sports etc. These were last minute calls in to get announcers. Bud is a long time Arkansas sportscaster and Rainman John Rainey was actually a frequent radio critic of WMC and they were pretty upset he was on their air.
