I’ve hiked to the little town Supai, then hiked down the creek to Navajo Falls, then to Havasu Falls, and to Mooney falls once in the fall and twice in the early to mid-spring. I’d never go in the summer months for so many reasons. Glad most people made it out. Condolences to the family who lost a loved one.

Crazy! Almost exactly the same as our story from Oct 2003... ironically I am Laurie and my ex- husband's name was Cory. We camped near Mooney falls, started raining right after we set up camp (0% chance of rain)... local came down and told us to move to higher ground... back to village and choppered out hours later. I also remember seeing all the mules stranded and the trails flooding out. Glad all are safe!

Why shouldn't they charge to be air lifted out of there? They are using their resources, time helicopter and fuel. Seems planning ahead would have been a good idea. If there is any chance of rain, you don't go. I am surprised they let the mules be rented becaise of the weather. The blackhawks are amazing crafts. I love to see them flying over. This was good practice for them also. I am so glad they all made it out of there. I hope they can find the missing person.

In Skywest’s defense, fuel is extremely expensive and $100 would probably not even cover their costs. It would be wonderful if everyone could donate in times of need like this, but sometimes people do not have the means to do so.

The fact that this guy is complaining about a private company offering an evacuation for $100 is an embarrassment. $100 is nothing. This attitude of entitlement is just utterly obnoxious.

I think that they are the business that helicopters people every day there. In the Village Of Supai visitors and Tribe members helicopter in and out of the village. Tourists pay a fee and tribe members ride for free. When I went there I hiked to the falls and then helicoptered back up to where the trail started. There are no motorized vehicles there. they use horses and mules.
