Hey western Macross fandom! Can we agree to start titling this song "d Shootin' Star b" and not "d Shudista b"? :) I believe this is a misspelling, here's why: -The actual song lyrics has "shooting star", in English, in it. Music videos for the song have a star motif. "Shudista" is not a real word in any language. Clearly, the title must be referencing "shooting star". -Then why is it spelled weirdly? The katakana for shooting star is usually "シューティングスター" or "shuutingusutaa". The katakana in the song title is "シュディスタ" or "shudisuta". I believe this is an artistic choice to spell it differently with katakana, perhaps to give it a more natural pronunciation, and NOT an attempt to make up a new word. This is where the misspelling must have originated. English word -> Japanese with a funny spelling -> Japanese funny spelling in latin aphabet. I think we should just revert it back to the English word it was meant to be! -My theory is that someone not familiar with Japanese or English originally titled the song "shudista" as it was uploaded online. With no official English spelling available, people just stuck with what they saw first. Merch of the blu-ray box and figures are being marketed with "shudista" on English websites, but this is likely just companies trying to decipher the title on their own. Random companies =/= the songwriter who chose the title. -Finally, I'd like to point out that this song is indeed titled "d Shootin' Star b" on streaming services like Spotify, which is currently the most official source I could find with an English title (using the latin alphabet)! Let me know if you know of a better official source that writes the song title as "d Shudista b". If you ask me, an ideal source would be the title printed in English in official merch. Or alternatively a statement from the song writer themselves, clarifying the issue ahah. And just to be clear, I am not attempting to change the title in Japanese. I am only complaining about translations/conversions of the title into English/latin alphabet.

I've been restricted from titling the url. May'n suggested this when titling the song, and it is correct with "dシュディスタ b” ”シュディスタ” is definitely taken from ”shooting star”
