Uta Lemper is one of the greatest Cabaret artists in the world. Her voice is rich and colorful, and she is the vocalist magician.

This song should be "swung". The tone is bitter-sweet as the playful rhythm contrasts with the sad lyrics. Ute turns this initially into a slow cabaret "torch song", and then moves in swing mode at the end of the song which feels more of musical embroidering rather than capturing the true tone of the piece. However, she is performing the piece in her own magnificent way. Perhaps I am too familiar with other versions?
