@@ImmaterialDigression if you dive into the age of the ring forums rumour is you can find certain isos that will help with that. The ea is not hosting servers issue also gets addressed. Allegedly. I know nothing of course. Ultimately I agree though a bfme 3 with maximum modern quality of life would be sick.

Just my opinion, but a lot of new RTS fail because they focus on competition first, and not being fun and fulfilling to play, the competition can be sorted later on in balance, but if the game isn’t fun or compelling, no amount of tweaking is going to make it a popular game

That’s an interesting take - I don’t totally disagree the game needs to be fun and strategic but the devs should be able to build those foundations with a focus on pvp. There is no reason a pvp first thought process can’t create engaging gameplay. I would argue the reason RTS fail is because they are trying to reinvent the wheel. Take what works, use it and add new and thoughtful gameplay that enhances it. Learn from their mistakes etc

Planetary Annihilation is pretty awesome. Basically BAR, but with entire planets you can also completely destroy.

My vibe on BAR is that it's PA without the planetary annihilation part, with less artistic direction, and slower. It's honestly really boring to watch.

Hey Marc! Cheers for another nice episode! :) I asked in the past, would you consider to put back the original death animation with blood & drag doll physic? Instead the black magical death smoke? As it´s one of the best part for years, when watching your play & all the action that is happening! :) I dunno, it feels so empty & dull with out it & missing out sometimes, onto what disappears & what does not, sometimes? :/ A little bet less entertaining as well, as if some music or sound was missing out? Saying it out in a polite way! :)

no, because if the other guy doesn't do the same thing they're going to get to max units faster, and have more units faster than you, or have an upgrade lead, equal to the cost and time of all the buildings you built that you didn't need at that moment. There's always a balance of resources. It's why they scout - to see what the other guy is doing so they can respond appropriately.

There was a game. An old game, maybe a 90's game. Single player RTS game it was. Isometric view of the 3D battle field, may have been able to 360degree rotate the battle field. You were European white captain chap, maybe with a black beard. You started maybe with calvary unit, sword infantry and canon then as you played through the campaign you came across and rescued archers, crossbowmen, artillery, lancer heavy cavalry and so on. If a unit was routed, yours or enemy they'd run off the battle field then you could rebuild it slowly over next few missions. If a unit was destroyed on the battle field dead, it was gone. Think at the start you where battling humans but then you ended up battling undead armies and sorcerers. Played through once, yet it stuck with me, But cannot for the life of me remember the title.

There is still interest in this game. There is interest in RTSs. Everybody is just waiting for one that should be better because technology has advanced since then but there isn't one? Why? even giving SC2 a cosmic upgrade would change its feel. Something should fill that void. If not StormGate then something. My theory is Blizzard/Microsoft is setting on SC3. Maybe im wrong. One wow skin made more money than all of SC2 so there just is no economic reason but other than that there is no technical reason stopping them. There is value in something like SC3 even if it's not a monetarily one. The needs of the people can not be satisfied by the profit motive which is the driver for capitalism. Damn. To get a SC3 humanity has to move on to a better economic system

MicroMachine vs Deimos in this one and they spike to 60k apm 😮. They also use a bunker to teleport workers to gas back and forth lmao pretty hilarious.
