Excellent job as always. Previously, Waltham was a watch manufacturer in Waltham, MA until 1957 (original factory is now some very high-end condos). After the company reorganized, the watch portion of the business moved to Switzerland where they still make luxury watches. The rest of the company became Waltham Precision Instruments, which still makes air plane speedometers and such. In 1981 they sold the rights to the Waltham name Heiwado & Co in Japan.

My first house had that disconnect in use when I bought it. Meter in the basement, next came that disconnect (the mains) with two 30 amp fuses feeding the fuse box. Six circuits total. Everything was mounted on a piece of wood with all the connections exposed. The house was a two story, seven bedroom, Victorian.

Sir SC: I always love the plier restoration/clean-up. Back in the 60's/70's I avoided made in post war Japan. Now I look for Japan or German/Swiss made if I can't find USA. The weather here in Newberg OR went from the teens with snow and freezing rain last week to heavy rains and warmer weather. It is supposed to get up to 54deg today. As they say here: "if you don't like the weather - stick around 5 minutes, it will change.:. Again, thanks for todays lesson!

I feel for you guys at those temperatures we've been hovering +/- 4 degrees c and that's quite cold enough for me, but at least it's been bright and relatively still until yesterday with another storm ! Those Uticas are in lovely condition, right decision to go light on them, as for the Waltham despite the finishing concerns the grain of the steel always looked good ( as far as you can ever tell from 3rd hand pictures and video ) so I'm not surprised that in your skilful hands they came out as good users, the Japanese certainly know their steel !

The level of service you gave to the Utica pliers was perfect. They look great. No more was needed. I have never seen its pattern of handle embellishment before. I like the linemans pliers too. They were probably a good deal when they were first purchased back in the day, but your 50 cents price is better. We had subzero temps for about five days where we live, but 5hat has broken and it's more seasonal, thankfully.

Beautiful job on both of those pliers Scout. A quick fact about Mica is that it’s a naturally occurring mineral that is an excellent electrical insulator, it’s translucent when in thin layers and it’s heat resistant. That’s why you see it in old electrical equipment and old “windows” in heaters and boilers. Cheers, Stuart. 🇦🇺

Great video 👍 Those Utica 7-6 pliers turned out Fantastic 👍. I agree I wouldn’t have changed a thing to those pliers, what a perfect quality tool right from the factory 🏭, just a little clean up and they are ready for service. Again Fantastic job 👍. Those Waltham side cutter pliers turned out Fantastic!👍 I like how you gave them a polished look and fixed the sharp corners so they are nice and smooth. I think some of those companies should have done that at the factory, but it is great to see what they should have looked like from the factory. I also like what you did to the embellishment on the handles of the pliers, great job!👍 I like how those vintage pliers cut for you with what seemed little effort. Now I think they are ready for service again 👍. That fuse disconnect ⚡️cleaned up beautifully, fantastic job👍. I think a steam punk lamp 💡 build would be great to see on the channel ✅👍. ScoutCrafter, I learned quickly on one of my trips to Alaska there was a reason everyone had a pair of boots with a rubber shoe, leather top, and fur at the very top. It wasn't the style that mattered, it was the linings. The boots had felt inserts. The liners absorbed the sweat from your feet and your body warmed it to 98.6°F. A second set of liners allowed for drying, to prevent odors. Five years in Anchorage and my feet were never cold. I had a second pair of work boots with fiberglass toes for whenever steel-toed shoes were required. Bob

Those lineman pliers were probably sold through hardware and farm stores. The were decently made but not used as much. Much like HF tools. They work good enough and take a beating but are not usually facing that every day. We had sunshine for part of Saturday and although the windchill was still below zero the regular temp was up a little above 10 so I decided to chase the threads on my old pickup's wheel studs. They have taken a beating in the last 30 years. I think the last few times I had it at a shop they pulled the wheels with it on the lift and drug the rims on the threads. I got twelve of the 24 done. I run a matching tap on the covered lug nut and one could be saved so I have a new set on the way. It was a lot more work than it should have been and did I mention the cold and kneeling in the snow?
