Love your channel and your insights into prospecting. I need to make a cleanup sluice my self and looking into a 6" multi purpose mini highbanker/ cleanup with a mat change. Good to see your new highbanker is a absolute beast. I also question my miners moss and weight of cons 😂.

Hi Kyle, what angle do you run each level or the degee's of each tier? Thanks so much
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I don't actually remember exactly what I was running, nor have I really done the correct amount of testing to give you the "correct" answer. I would guess it's set at roughly 1.5" of drop per 12" of run most of the time. I run all 3 tiers at about the same angle. If I fed the sluice slow enough, I would only need two tiers, and the last one is more for comfort.

I love all your video, and the husband and I have learnt so much from you, and already been trying those things, Please tell us your only going to Australia as a temp thing and not moving there permanently, how am I to learn how to do Alberta gold if your not here to show us? @@UtmostOutdoors

You think that mat is the best "cleanup" mat design?
@UtmostOutdoors

For Alberta's fine gold, I think it works well, and provides a good balance of recovery with reducing concentrates. If I were to start over from scratch and had to deal with fine flat gold, I would strongly consider purchasing another section of the VDR matting, but I just don't have the testing and experience under my belt to declare any "winners" at this point.

You said the VDR mat round sections seemed to work like drop-riffles rather than having much "vortex" action. how would you further test that? An "all drop riffle" mat?@@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
In another video I used a snuffer bottle to clean out the riffles separately to the drop circles and weighed the results of each snuffer separately. That would be one way of testing. I personally don't like any mat with a full width trough or riffle out in the field since if the sluice were to accidentally tip to the side the contents of that riffle may shift and begin to pour out the side as well. So my preference would be to have the drop riffles broken up into little segments 2 or 3 inches wide to keep things centered a little better in the event of an accidental tilt out in the field. I think the circles do a good job of addressing this problem, but there might be something to segmenting the riffle sections as well. It's only ideas until testing is done though, I will do some more tests in future videos.

I am caught in a maze of confusion. Is the story , you brought home a bucket and a half of cons , and ran them thru the exact same setup as you have here ? And what got through the setup was what you just ran here ? And now you are considering ripping out your mats from your 2 people shovelling sluice and replacing them with VDR matting ? I'm sure I got most of that wrong , but that is what I got after watching this twice - is their any point in me watching a 3rd time ? Anyway , if it were me , I would have used a spoon half the size of your scoop and fed it twice as fast instead of trying to dribble out of the scoop. Sort of like feeding it with a miniature bucket scoop. Dump , gap . dump , gap - hopefully by the next dump rocks up , the previous dump has somewhat cleared and so have the cells

You got the story right. Went to the river for 5 days, did 5 cleanups into this sluice, and in this video I ran the tailings from everything through the sluice a second time to check for losses. I really like my miners moss and will keep using it, but might do a VDR test one day to see if it's worth switching. You are correct that spoon feeding a steadier flow would be best. Definitely needed to run things slower... For the original run we ran things much slower... I will try to make the next video happen in order to show the plot start to finish.

@@UtmostOutdoors Trying to release a video to a schedule when Personal Life has a different schedule can be overcome. Dan Hurd releases tapes weekly , but they are filmed timelined from a month ago. And a million Subscribers have no issue with that. Until you get on top of things , try making a tape that requires little editing - like a talk about your new fence build , as it is being built , but not the actual build. Most of those 37 thousand Subcribers are not Prospectors. Of Course , this is from a bloke with 333 subscribers and gets 100 views per tape.
