The reason I think why OTT failed in India is the content. For example, Zakir Khan's web series "Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare" was first released in May 2018, and now it's 2024, almost seven years, and the series hasn't ended. We have to wait more. Also, frankly, we Indians do watch content; we go to watch in cinema halls. For example, some movies like "KGF," "Pathan," "Animal," and many others got very good success. The problem is we don't want to wait too long; eventually, we start forgetting some good shows because we don't have enough time to give. We really can't wait too long just to watch a movie. Later, when the movie is released, we get to know from a friend, and eventually, we go for torrents.

The reason is two fold. No person wants to subscribe to watch new foreign content and recently released bollywood and other Indian movies. They subscribe to watch the OTT produced web series or movies which are actually WORTH WATCHING. And MOST OTTS or rather I'd say NO OTT PTALFORM has new unique content and actually good content. Most original new content on OTT whether be it movies or web series is CRAP. Netflix In USA has stranger things, You, Wednesday (web series), etc. It also has Dark in Germany. Content like this is revolutionary, unique, bold in true sense and AMAZING. Amazon has produced the Boys in the USA. Disney+ has original Marvel content. What unique content do the Indian branches of these OTTs provide? Most good web series or Movies even have regular stories with just addition of gaali and sex. Produce REVOLUTIONARY, GOOD content and people will pay hand over fist.
