@Goodwood Road & Racing... You could've just named this "A win for our very own Ed Foster", but you named it "Utter chaos". I watched the livestream as you may have known, and that race is easily one of the best of the weekend for me. The rest of the commentating team ribbed him mercilessly when he made a mess of the first start. At the restart, the whole live chat rose in unison, cheering Ed Foster on. And when Mark Cole in the yellow MG B retired the commentators' reaction to Ed leading is priceless (35:35: "Oh my goodness. You can't write this nonsense...")... so does the whole live chat's reaction (I remember we all went wild for that last 3 minutes, urging Ed on to the finish), and eventually, Ed's reaction after winning the race. Simply priceless, I remember grinning and laughing that time...

Super cool to watch. I have two MGBs but qouldnt ever dare do what these guys do with theirs. I did actually race another B on our local freeway once upon a time and did pull slightly ahead, but it was my '64 against a '77. We both topped out above 105 if I recall.

@@edfoster1447 HUGE congratulations to you, Ed. 👏😊 Starting on the front row was impressive enough… Then, keeping your cool after the restart, holding things together throughout the race & pressing on for THE WIN was the stuff of dreams… something that your infectiously EXUBERANT reaction, upon crossing the line, demonstrated so well! ⚡️✊🥳⚡️ That was simply one of THE BEST & most heartwarmingly honest reactions to winning a race, that I’ve ever seen… “Head & shoulders” above any other. But then, you’re used to being “head & shoulders” above everyone else! 😉 Speaking of which, my Stepson is 6’ 4” & was trying to buy a classic MGB a Month or two ago, but was finding it too tight a squeeze to fit his knees under the Steering Wheel... Could I please ask what adjustments were made for you in the cabin, to accommodate your height? Many Thanks & Sincere Congratulations to you, once again. ~ LOUIS C.
@edfoster14472 жыл бұрын
@@the5thmusketeer215 Thank you for the kind words. The win was very unexpected...! The best bet when you're tall in an MGB is to make sure the seat is pretty much on the floor, and then the key one is to go for a slightly smaller steering wheel. Too small and it's a nightmare to turn at low speeds, but you don't want one of those huge ones some of them have!
@the5thmusketeer2152 жыл бұрын
@@edfoster1447 Thank you Ed; much appreciated. I’ll pass that on to my Stepson. We might even make it to Goodwood for the first time, next year. @@redbarchetta8782 Sort of a double entendre there. That way its funnier more than offensive while expressing both thoughts that came to my mind. Spent many disappointing days as a kid waiting for Dad to get his '64 running so we could go for a ride. Usually because the exhaust ripped off the weekend prior. The car was only 6 or 7yo then. 26:45 I don't know what the commentators looked at while talking: In fact, no. 9 was overtaking and had already occupied the racing line, what no. 67 either didn't recognise or didn't accept. So no. 67 pushed no. 9 from the track towards the grass. No. 9 even seems to slow down in order to avoid a collision. No. 67 isn't the innocent party here at all...

I suppose in racing you take whatever luck comes your way but surely when three of the four front cars break down , your car is clearly faster than the fifth place and the car in 6th has an off which slows all the pursuing pack down it becomes a little bit of a pyrrhic victory. That plus all the damage has left me confused about the whole thing. Why would you move someone up from 20th place to the front row because of a red flag? What happened to race order after the first start? Wouldn’t you black flag a car with a tyre rubbing on a wheel and they start from the pit lane? How about one whose bonnet catch has failed??
@edfoster14472 жыл бұрын
To be fair David, I only dropped to 10th rather than 20th! It was classed as a start line accident so the race had to be restarted. I’ve had enough bad luck in my career to take this one without any bad feelings!
