UV Sanitiser / Steriliser " Additional Support to fight CORONA Virus COVID-19" by CE Ashish Goyal

This equipment (UV steriliser/Sanitiser) is made from waste material on board a ship in order to maintain hygiene and in turn fighting Corona Virus. The Equipment contains Ultra Violet rays which kills most of the bacteria and Pathogens in few seconds. The UV light must not be directed on skins and eyes. This equipment must be handled by a properly trained person wearing proper PPE.
This equipment can be used onboard where the sanitiser can not be used.
For example: to sanitise radio equipment used by both Master and pilot.

How effective this equipment is?
we have no proof of it’s effectiveness. But we discussed the use of UV with a biochemist. Use of UV in killing bacteria and pathogens is effective but it is effective for short term. So far we do not have proof of the effectiveness of UV on Carona viruses but certainly it helps in maintaining hygiene bye killing other bacteria and pathogens.
The equipment can be used onboard where the other means of sanitiser cannot be used.
