[UVB-76] Transition from Buzzer to Low Pip channel marker; 04. January 2022

A lot of people are commenting about this, so I wanted to update you: Yes, you were able to hear a Buzzer marker over the course of the last one or two days. However, the modulation was way different than what we know from the usual marker, plus the signal was a lot weaker. Combine that with the odd broadcasts of Radio China, *we are 95% sure that these were pirates*. As of posting this comment, UVB-76 is back to the pip marker. Still, this change might not be permanent, we will have to wait, yet the occurring voice messages in the last days (accompanied by the new marker) lead me to believe that it is

It's probably temporary, since the old device that generated the Buzzer was having several problems, recently there were many breakdowns, Buzzer getting low pitch, high background noise, etc. They're probably using equipment similar to The Pip's, as the sound is very similar and even the timing is the same My theory is that they will use this replacement equipment until the old one is completely repaired, the equipment is expected to have problems as it has been used since the 90s (or who knows, since the 70s), if that doesn't happen, this is the new Marker

As of UTC 19:00 5 Jan 2022, the pip can be strongly heard and the buzzer can be weakly perceived in the background. Maybe it is some kind of jamming station transmitting with higher intensity nearby? Or a very directive signal to intentionally make it difficult for UVB-76 to be heard outside of Russia?

To me at least it seems like the opposite, i.e. The Buzzer you can hear in the background is the fake signal, as the buzzes do not sound like they were generated by UVB's old marker generator. That's just a theory though, we will have to wait and see what happens. As soon as a voice message is sent, we will probably have a definitive answer.

Shame. The new marker has already been around for 3 weeks. But maybe they will restore the old one ... I wonder how the device that generated the old buzzer was constructed and whether it is possible to do something like that at home with the appropriate electrical cnowledge.
