Uxbridge Pubs 1969

A few pictures of some old Uxbridge Pubs taken in March 1969.

The Old Rockingham Arms was demolished a few years back and housing sits on the site now.

As a former airman at Uxbridge from 1959 through to 1963, I can attest to the fact that I've washed my teeth with the ale in many of these establishments, especially at The Swan & Bottle, though I studiously avoided the infamous Watney's Red Barrel that was served in that pub, which should have been put to better use cleaning out sewerage pipes or the like. My thanks to you for the memories revived.

blue47er I agree. From 70/79, Central Band, we frequented the 8 Bells, 3 Tuns, Gardeners Arms and my favourite, Ron’s special bitter at the Green Man. Happy days.....

Not too long ago walking through Uxbridge I noticed they were refurbishing the Met. Underneath the sign they were taking down it seemed like the one shown in this video was underneath it. Great video thanks for sharing .

Born in uxbridge moved to Australia 🇦🇺 miss ol uxbridge nice to see old pubs wonder if the Witch and broomstick still there down from the church I the old square where they burn the witches loved the video more please 😊

@@footballfumb5495 yeah as far as I know just the Met and Swan and Bottle (though not sure if it is the same swan and bottle, or maybe since this picture they have integrated the canal to be part of it, because I would have taken a much better picture that included the canal. lol)
