It really is a tragic double edged sword, admiring these priceless magnificent jewels... while there is no denying the exceptional skill required to create them, one simply cannot forget that for hundreds of years, millions of enslaved and starving people slaved away in absolute squallor and died tragic deaths just so that a select few people could swish around all day, every day, playing with priceless jewels (that could have fed, clothed, sheltered and educated hundreds of people, for years!

In later years British and Indian government relationships have been difficult but on a personal level the Queen has had friendship with Maharajas and warmly gifted with lovely Indian pieces of jewelry.
