Deze serie is (neem ik aan) bedoeld om VAG personeel te voorzien van diverse informatie in het kader van opleiding alsmede enthousiasmeren voor het merk.

Deze serie is gedigitaliseerd vanaf VHS (PAL) en is niet bedoeld voor commerciële doeleinden. Het is gericht aan (klassieke) automobiel liefhebbers.
De rechten liggen niet bij mijn persoon maar bij Studio Aalders en Pon's Automobielhandel zoals aangegeven in de aftiteling.

Voor het transcoderen houd ik rekening met de aanbevelingen van KZbin:

KZbin zorgt voor een zeer matige kwaliteit wanneer het gaat om het weergeven van PAL SD materiaal.
Mijn upload bestand met een resolutie van 768x576 pixels@4Mbit/s laat KZbin niet zomaar toe. Zij zorgt na de upload voor een extra transcoding. In dit geval naar 480x360 pixels@0,246Mbit!
Vandaar dat ik, na meerdere testen, heb gekozen om het materiaal vóór de upload al te upscalen naar 720p. In mijn ogen zorgt dit voor de beste balans van behoud van kwaliteit en grootte van het bestand mbt tot PAL SD.

Avisynth:
QTGMC de-interlacing [creëer een compleet frame voor elk field [25fps to 50fps]
Crop minimaal vertical blanking & meer wanneer nodig [beperkt aan FAR 5:4]
Resize naar 960x720 [FAR 4:3]
FFMPEG:
Transcoding } H.264 960x720, 50fps, 7,5Mbit/s, 4:2:0 [8bit]
KZbin:
(re)transcoding } H.264 1280x720, 25fps, 1,5Mbit/s, 4:2:0 [8bit]

KZbin provides a very poor quality when it comes to storing PAL SD material. My upload file with a resolution of 768x576 pixels @4Mbit/s is something KZbin doesn’t allow just like that. After uploading, KZbin provides an extra transcoding. In this case to 480x360 pixels @0.246Mbit!
That is why (after several tests) I chose to upscale the material to 720p before uploading. In my view, this provides the best balance between maintaining quality and file size for PAL SD.
