Actually, The x-cube 4 had that same mechanism MUCH before any other company (Including V-Cube) So people getting mad that Sheng Shou Took the mechanism changed it a tiny bit, and done, Thats exactly what the v-cube did to the x-cube four. + I use shengshou because its about the same and like 30$ Cheaper!

Depends on when it was first patented. You can patent and idea that has not come into play yet. So essentially Vcubes owned the rights to the design but had not produced the product yet. Shenshou took the design, modified it and made it better. So yeah they did break copyright laws, but personally I hate most Vcubes. If they didn't superglue the caps on their 3*3's and made better stickers and didn't overprice their cubes and released new ones sooner people actually might buy from them more. Watch Crazybadcuber's video on Vcube knock offs the short documentary. It explains everything.

ClassicalCubes I agree. Plus prices are a factor too. About $30 for a V-Cube 4, and I got a ShengShou 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, AND 5x5, for $20 alltogether

ClassicalCubes one thing they stole was the conicle design from v-cubes, also shengshou took the edge geometry of the v-cube peices and generaly took the whole v-cube design. about the price v-cubes come from greece, a struggling country, shengshou comes from china which well we know about that. I have both the shengshou and v-cube and i find v-cube is better and here is why. (BTW this is the assembled flat version) THe inner slices on the v-cube are much better than shengshou, second my v-cube could do a 2U in a single flick withou any lubricant while the shengshou had to be soaked in grease to match that. now the part that shengshou has over v cube is that no center clicking(however the click doesnt affect times its just there) and two i fell like my v cube is too smooth for me to control atm. ie. when i get to the 3x3 part the centers wiggle around too much howvere all considered i would say it is a personal call i prefer not to endorse un-origional design. (I am aware that v-cube took x-cube alignment mechanism but shengshou basicaly took stuff from all good cubes and barely has any orgionality and has ripped of other companies other than v-cubes)

Sure the shengshou may be a KO but it has a incredibly high potential. If you just lube and tension the way you like, it will be perfect. The v cube is still good though, but it doesn't have as high of a potential. Even if shengshou knocked it off, they definitely improved the mechanism. Personally, the Aosu is the best, then the shengshou, then maybe the v cube. I still highly doubt shengshou went and completely stole the mechanism, and if they did , it was surely not something where they got a v cube, ripped it open and did it all on purpose. So, if you want good speed cube, with a high potential get a moyu or shengshou

I want to say thank you so much Billy for being supportive and helpful to crazy bad cuber. I love his channel. Sure, he was a bit mean to V-Cubes, but they were even meaner to him. A glued-together cube? really? and the comments. There are a lot of people that hate CBC only for 1 reason. He hates V-Cubes. That comment from Duhsorrow in CBC's cube blah blah blah video Was the worst thing that i saw that happened to a youtube in my life. We don't need haters towards CBC. I have a vcube 3, and i hate it. Good question. After trying, the answer is no. The V-Cube 4 doesn't have any problems on inner slice turns. But you're right about the ShengShou 4x4, some inner slices tend to get stuck (I presume on the inner plastic "hooks"). The only thing I did notice is one inner slice is a little stiffer than the other on the V-Cube 4, depending on which one grabs the hidden layer. But after more experimenting, this happens more or less on all 4x4s. Other than that the inner slices are very smooth.

The difference there is V-Cubes just came out 5 years ago. Original design deserves about 20 or so years to profit on before others can start using it. (I think that's how long patents last anyway.) It's also the reason why other 3x3 cubes aren't KOs of the original Rubik's Cube, which was released over 30 years ago.

Well I can't really complain about that since I did release the design publicly. I'd rather everyone see the mod so they can all improve their own cubes, rather then having to go through the troublesome process of patenting/copyrighting an already patented design for an uncertain profit. On the other hand, getting a couple of free $42 cubes does seem like payment enough ;)

the cube i got then is designed by Tony Fisher, exclusively for my favorite band, Muse. Limited to i think 1000 or 2000 pieces, cannot look it up right now. It was only available at the one open air tour of Muse where they had this stage: watch?v=8PqdLfMs64E it looks small in video, but can you spot the band? The stage is as high as a building with 4 to 5 floors. My cube is legit and its exclusive to the one open air Muse tour with that one specific stage.

Not really. I released my mod for all to see, so I can't really complain. But I just learned the designer of the X-Cube 4, xb27, claimed he wasn't aware of my mod when he released his cube. So it's possible that V-Cube simply used xb27's improvement that he came up with on his own. I'm not sure if V-Cube is completely justified for using his idea, but if you start making money from a patented design without rights, can you really expect the company not to use any improvements you come up with?

You were the first person with the pin mod. When I first saw the X-cube at Taiwan Spring Open 2010 xb27 (inventor of x-cube) was not aware of the pin mod and developed something slightly different. xb27 shared his X-cube idea with SS and Verdes through email and gave them the g2g to use his idea. I'm glad to see V-cube has a slight improvement with the centers.

I once got the wrong set of stickers from Cubesmith. Based on your logic, I guess I can guess the people at Cubesmith are considered drunk too. In all seriousness, Cubesmith promptly sent me the correct stickers. Once I even got a V-Cube 6 I was modifying for someone & one side was significantly tighter than the others. The V-Cube company promptly sent me a new core. Basing an entire opinion on one customer experience is irresponsible, especially before a chance has been given for correction.

Pi, I read your post on facebook about the X-cube 4. I do not have an X-cube 4, but from what I have heard, the x-cube 4 turns much better after you lubricate and tension it. For more info on tensioning it, watch camcuber's review on it.

i do not believe v-cubes will go down in price, since they produce in greece, which is an EU-member state currently in crisis, but the crisis was apparently not felt at v-cubes. But they still assemble and produce in Greece, not China. In China the minimum wage is i believe around 150 US dollars per month, 12 hours per day 7 days a week no days off. In Greece its 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, the pay i can only guess but it will be around 1000 USD per month.

ill believe it when i see it, so ill ask you straight: Adjustable v-7 core, can i get it from v-cubes? Where, how? I like my v7 dazzler, also have the illusion, but i would like to tension them differently. Anyway. 1-2 new cubes per year will come from V-Cubes, NOT MORE, and im waiting for 9x9, to be followed by 8x8, to be followed by 11x11. Or the pillowed 6x6 that solves all problems with lockups and clicking and so on. But i guess the 9x9 is easier.

I once bought a V-Cube 6 which was very loose on 4 sides and incredibly hard to turn on the other 2 sides. I send them an email asking for a solution to it, having only 600 subscribers, they've never heard of me so they tell me to buy another one... The price of the cube is still extremely insane. As you said in the video that the shengshou and the v-cube are about equal in performance, but the v-cube's total cost is nearly 5 times more. The cube doesn't look that bad though, looks like it needs some more tensioning then it might be good.

Hello MeMyselfAndPi, I am a big fan of your videos. Are you going to make any more "How to solve" videos? When I saw your video "The Gigaminx!" I got very excited expecting a "How to solve video". I was also hoping for a Pyraminx Crystal how to solve also. I am not trying to rush a video. I was just wandering if you were going to make them.

i would rather see their 9x9 and 8x8, or the pillowed 6x6, v-cubes has limited itself to very few new cubes per year. I dont know, is it two per year? Anyway, if you disregard pillowed or flat, they covered it now up to 7x7. I think except for the fixed-up 6x6 pillowed, either they are obsessed with perfection or they will go for the 9x9. To be shortly followed by the 8x8. But they only develop maybe 2 new cubes per year.

the thing is that v-cubes did everything right with the patents, which requires expensive patent lawyers. And the mind behind v-cubes was the first person to show a fully working 6x6 to a public audience. Basically all cubes above 7x7 are v-cubes knockoffs, except for the 17x17 over-the-top cube by Oscar van Deventer. Thats a real 17x17, original, fully functional, without copyright issues. But thats Oscar and he is crazy, inventing things like geared 5x5 all the time.

Afaik, They are making re-tooled versions of the V5->7 aswell as releasing a new cube this year, which we can only guess at which one it is.

... second comment im serious, its a super limited edition, i think its a skewb shape-modified into a cubooctahedron with Muse-designs on all large faces and the emblem of the band on all the small faces. It was not easy to get the packaging out undamaged, i had to bribe people to keep the packaging safe until after the concert.

The Facebook page is not the place to post such a complaint, especially when someone like CrazyBadCuber can exploit it. Send them an email to their customer support center before basing an opinion. If you want your complaint to be heard by the public, then post a KZbin review or post on the forums. I would agree it's important for curious people to know how many defective cubes are being received. But you can't expect a company to let negativity to be displayed on their page.
