Personally, I think the mv sends the message that in the end we should love ourselves and be okay with ourselves before wanting to dedicate our time to someone else, like in a relationship. I liked the way you interpreted the beginning and middle of the mv and I drew my conclusions from that too, a good way to see this message from behind is also to think that we compare ourselves so much to something which is sometimes not true, when Tae was alone he saw other people's relationships as perfect and only with happy moments, but when he has someone the other people's relationships are shown with bad phases and fights, which is ok, because that's how it works in real life!! because nothing is perfect... And when he had someone he was in the good phase of the relationship while the others were behind living the reality that is often not perfect, and this makes sense when we think that in reality on the internet, nothing is 100%, everything is only half, and only those who go through or experience what they posted know what's behind it! When Bris said that everyone was angry now that V was with someone, but people were really happy when he was single, I instantly thought to myself "Like how a small percentage of Armies who get genuinely angry if there are any rumors of V being with anyone, but are the happiest when he is single." I'm not saying all Armies are like that, but there are definitely a small amount who make a lot of noise about stuff like that. As usual, Tae gets me thinking of so many different interpretations of his MV’s and music. ONE of the many interpretation I got, is that it’s a witty, but a sad sarcastic take an idol’s life( and maybe also for diverse relationships). They are lonely and they can’t have relationships only friends therefore everyone loves them but the pressure can cause ‘death’ and the second part is when they do have a relationship, then there is hate. And at the end of the day, they only have themselves to rely on until they stop being idols. I love that he is so experimental in chapter 2, trying so many different things and styles. His vocals are great, thought I do prefer it without autotune which big hit loves to use for artistic purposes. The vocals at the end were amazing, especially as he had a choir. I can see this being even more amazing live with the soul choir that backed him up.

I’m not interested in if they are dating or not, thats’s their personal and private life and nothing to do with us supporting their art/music. However, my comment is based on the whole concept of ‘idol’ where they are all stereotyped with have]ing a certain image and how they l]get cancelled even if there is a whiff of dating rumours (that’s all of kpop idol industry, not just bts). You don’t have to agree with it, but is one of the interpretations I got from a macro level about this mv. BTS have a thing called BU and have since the beginning made songs and MV’s which army have theorised about and interpreted nothing new in my view on this song, which the members or big hit never explained at the onset. The group is known not to be literal about all their song, during the On behind the scenes and on IU’s Palette, Tae has told us that we come up with theories and interpretations, in fact in Palette he jokingly said he would pick the best one and use it as the explanation for his layover songs. Interpretation is subject and some don’t see it and that’s ok, you can move onto interpretations you like.

Just based on the video (not the song): Surface level- when you’re alone, it seems like everyone else is happy in love around you. When you’re in love, the world could fall apart around you. Either way, nothing is forever so love yourself first. Deep level- When Tae (or any Tannie) is alone (not possibly dating), ‘fans’ are happy. When they are (possibly) dating, there are ‘fans’ that get super mad. Either way, it doesn’t end well. So Tae has learn to just to just be at peace with both sides of himself (idol and personal). Notice I say ‘fans’ and not ARMY. I know it’s not most but the Tannies see it all. This is just my opinion. No offense intended. The song seems like a simple friends start to feel something for each other but they’re stuck in the ‘friend zone’. Tae just want to end being friends and go to the next level (but there is no ‘going back’ if they do.
