എന്റെ 40 വർഷം പഴയ വീട് തേച്ചത് മലയാളികൾ തന്നെ ആണ്. തേപ്പ് ഒരു ലെവലും ഇല്ല. വാരി തേച്ചത് പോലെ ആണ്. അന്നത്തെ കാലത്ത് പുട്ടി ഇല്ല. ഇനി ഇപ്പോൾ ഒന്ന് maintain ചെയ്യണം എന്നുണ്ട്. പുട്ടി ഇടണോ അതോ വേറെ വല്ല പുതിയ മാർഗവുമുണ്ടോ

Really in our Kerala no problems for applying putty But before applying stucco putty make sure the moisture content in the wall to be less than 12% To find out the moisture content there is a mechine called moisture meter ( normally the mechine will cost around 3000 Rs) As a thumb rule we consider like this after plaster minium 21 days before starting painting If we applying paint with out putty the final finishing will not be good Try to apply 2 coat of stucco putty

Similar firm belief about wet area and dry area in the bath room. Toilet must come in the centre and must get wet so that every time someone has a shower, the next person has to sit on a wet toilet seat, feeling dirty. Alternate suggested is a plastic shower guard which accumulate all types of germs and bacteria. In 4 by 8 toilet, shower and toilet should come in geometrically opposite corners so that the toilet seat doesn't get wet. Modern Civil engineer will never agree.

Hundred years ago, my maternal grand uncle approached Calicut Municipality with a plan to construct a house with hollow bricks in an IGLOO design. He was basically a mason who had become a maistry and then graduated to a contractor along with late Chirukandan Maistry. People laughed at him; but he was sure about arch type construction and went ahead without permission to make a small house in his backyard. This was one of the best houses that I ever slept in. And probably at the cheapest construction cost.
