Bach is the composer to whom I return again and again. The multiple layers of counterpoint reveal something unexpected every time. As an organist, I am privileged to have access to Bach's "heart": he lived and served in the organ loft all his life and no-one has equalled his compositions for that amazing instrument. Perhaps many people, not familiar with the ecclesiastical traditions which were Bach's home, are unaware of this vast canon of musical masterpieces, therefore I am happy that transcriptionsbof them for other musical media are available. Víkingur Ólafsson opens this door and reveals the depths of Bach's music through inspirational transcriptions that do full justice to the original organ versions.
