Being 6' 2" I think you've convinced me I would be fine on a 650V-Strom. Thanks

I’ve owned many bikes over fifty years, still ride and own a few. Since 2009 I’ve bought and owned three new DL650 ‘Stroms and cumulatively rode them hard over 200 000 kilometers. It’s not an adrenaline pumping bike but, in my opinion, it’s one of the best little bike engines ever mass produced. That said, I won’t be buying another until Suzuki produces something like a limited edition with much better brakes and suspension, all,of which Suzuki has in their lineup. I’ll add the exhaust. I do believe there’s a sufficient and dedicated fan base willing to pay more to support a limited edition. Notwithstanding my wishful thinking, just as it is, the wee V-Strom is a great motorcycle!

lol, the buggers, didnt even realise they had stolen the preload adjuster off later models, the first gen was, even tho the first gen 1000 wasnt, i did a similar swap to you but used Yacugar springs, but then i swapped the cartridge DL1000 internals onto mine

Mr Gustav, the OEM suspension is good, you actually need your bike set up for touring, nice video man 💯,I am from a small island, grew up on in street bikes ( cbr600,fz600 etc) at 54 years old, really gravitating to this kind riding, this 650 really fits into my future riding plans 😎

Hehe. Just ordered my V-Storm 650 XT 2021 (even tho’ I haven’t finished my license course yet). At 6’6 and 300 lbs - changing the fork springs was one of my first thoughts. I will ask at the shop to see what they recommend. Cheers

Short at sweet. Not Gustav, the video. Gustav is nice, too. Great video, keen to see more as you resume your journey. All the best from Australia.

Suzuki went cheap and put 1970’s suspension on the V650, it should have received the V1000 suspension with usd forks and rear shock.

Thanks for the video 👍. I want to increase the ground clearance of v strom 650 from 170 mm to 220 mm - 50 mm increase - is that possible ? Would like to know your suggestions

One reaps the Benefits of up graded suspension every time the bike rolls over a bump, jump, hole, etc… 1 ride =‘s how many bumps, jumps, holes, etc…?

Thank you for your videos. Which phone holder are you using? Do you prefer using it over the tank bag or near the screen?
@GustafN4 жыл бұрын
I’m using a Ram mount X-Grip with a AdventureTech bracket to mount it to the bike. Super good system! Ram mounts are really amazing, broke it once and got a new on warranty. I prefer to have the phone up high as I don’t need to take my eyes off the road. The only problem is while standing up it can be hard to see the screen.

hey mate quick question please...did you lift the bike or not ?? Also, what is your opinion about the Öhlins suspensions ??
@GustafN2 жыл бұрын
It's not lifted, or at least not intentionally. I was advised against lifting it as it changes the rake angle. Öhlins makes great suspension components, i know a few people working there and they are fantastic people (Öhlins is Swedish). But do i think Öhlins is worth double the money of the TFX shocks i have? For me and my use case I'm not sure, I'm not skilled enough and ride extreme enough to notice the difference. I'm very happy with my TFX shock and can't see the benefit for international overland travel by going with a Öhlins shock.

Any advantage of using black side cases instead silver?
@GustafN3 жыл бұрын
No, not really. Just looks better on my bike according to be. Maybe silver/aluminium colored once doesn’t get as warm in the sun, but I think it’s just marginally.

Thanks for the info Gustaf ! How much is the ground clearance after the upgrades? Did you consider to change the rims to 21front / 18 rear?
