It's springtime here , which means lots of work to get done for the growing season. That said, your videos keep up the hope and inspiration that I will find the time to jump into this myself. They truly keep me going so please keep them coming and *THANK YOU* for sharing! 🙏

The V does appear to make for a simpler build assembly compared to the conventional T design. I'm unconvinced it will make a significant difference, but look forward to follow-on flights to see how real-world efficiently and performance compare. Thanks for doing this, just to compare the results. This single boom design of yours is one of my favourites.

Ver good looking build. I noticed the main wing flexing quite a bit in a few of the flybys and from the rear camera as well,I guess if you just cruising around it shouldn't be a problem but I'd hate to see the carnage after a folded wing crash . Have fun a keep up the good work

I havent built a plane yet but im planning too, your channel is fantastic btw. Question, when building a wing is there any reason you couldn't run the LED wires down to the wing tip and have a clear cutout or something?
@unfriendlybus32253 ай бұрын
its going to be a few more wires to plug/unplug when detaching the wing but it will be neater! make sure the wires have some slack to avoid tension buliding when the wing bends.

I was thinking a couple of LED strips recessed into the underside of the wings would keep down the drag, and be easily seen.

Hi thanks for sharing, great convert 👍 Which remote license do you have to fly your converted fixed wing? Have fun and take care 🍀

Hi. What is payload weight it can carry?

Hello, Nathan! I want to build a plane for a competition that can give the maximum flight time with an added 200gm payload. The battery option is 3s 2200mAh. And the motor is 750KV. Can you tell me which one of your builds is the best one to give maximum flight time with these options? And what should be a good wingspan for that?
@dave48823 ай бұрын
Could you convert your pusher twin boom to V-tail with 1/2 the V on each boom? I'm guessing it would up the flight time.
@spartan32993 ай бұрын
I wonder if in addition to converting to a V-tail, if aligning the tail servos in series might also reduce the frontal surface area?

and perhaps a cap.. much more aerodynamic

I like this design, so I ordered all the parts you listed in your link, to build my first plane. $167.71 CAD I've made the 3D printed ones before from Tom Stanton, but they are hanging from my office ceiling as eye candy and not for flying. 3D printing one or buying an air-frame is too much money for what it is. I'll crash and then cry.

Oh man...imagine a simple meshtastic lora repeater built into that and flying at several thousand feet...the range would be incredible! (or a stripped down Baofeng UV-5R with a simplex repeater for emergency comms) What would a payload weight be for a little bird like that...if it was set to fly high but in a circular holding pattern?
@robertedwards77493 ай бұрын
Remember at several thousand feet AGL you are playing in the big birds yard. The last thing you want is to cause a mid air with a passenger plane. A lot of people would be VERY unhappy with you. I don't know if there is a device that can act as an aircraft avoidance system for a drone. That might be the ticket to flying the altitudes you are talking about. Its a neat idea even at 1000 feet for property security overflights. Beats hovering a drone on a very long tether.

See @ 15:51 is original build video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2e8epePZbyhhbs The are purchased LED circuits, but unfortunately there is no link to specific item used. Similar can be purchased online, just need to make sure voltage range overlaps with your planned battery choice.

I think you don't know much about real aircraft design when you equate a V-Tail with 'better performance'. It's certainly not worse, but the commercial full scale aircraft industry has already done this research and design iteration. And still don't use this design - aside from some notable appearances for aesthetic reasons. It looks different. In the real world - not enough difference to make a difference. Unfortunately, V-Tails also come with the inherent down side of coupled motion. Particularly, paradoxical un-favorable coupling of yaw and roll. When yawed in one direction, it also tries to roll in the opposite, undesired direction.
