I always wondered who those medal of freedom winners were? Extras that just had their headshots featured? Crew members? I can't find acting information for most of them.

In my headcanon, the brits seized the British based mothership via SAS infiltration from captured skyfighters and grounded it in Scotland forcing the Visitor technician crew to switch sides due to red dust contamination, they then piloted it to France and then Spain where they took down the motherships there and worked with European nations to drive out the Visitors. The fighting was long and brutal but reinforcements from USSR, soldiers who abandoned their posts for the fight, bolstered the already winning side and massacred the Visitor army. The USSR and China then took active roles in liberating the African and Indonesian nations and Australia. Philip said in the final episode the Visitors victory had been grossly exaggerated, I'd wager they were being decimated at that point.

That is awesome. I guess I never really thought about it. There were some really good tie in books written at the time but I don't think there were any stories that werent based in the states. Very cool comment. Thanks!

You missed the bit where the North West European nations led by Britian and France sent 10000s reinforcements to US East Coast and Canada (to repay 1943-45 favour) helping to unite the various disparate guerrilla groups and help reestablish a unified leadership - Howard's final broadcast in the late 80s is him receiving a Knighthood and Legion of Honour
