No one can beat the original "HYAAA". And when in the hollows the original had a voice line that said "Why didn't you buy any snacks?!" It showed a side of Soukaku that let you know she was an oni and you didn't want to make her angry. I know they'll never hire the old VA but whereever she is she has left a deep void in my heart that she's no longer Soukaku's voice

It's clear that 1.0 had most time to perfect it. 1.1 was rushed and resulted in very different feel (imo, it was hurt by unintended lack of energy, especially in the ultimate) 1.3 seems to try to return to 1.0 feel, imo does not quite reach but is mostly better than 1.1, however I will miss "is food included" from 1.1, that was the perfect read for that line, imo.

it would appear with Soukaku, her childlike character direction wasn't really solidified until 1.3. Her speaking lines for 1.1 doesn't really give off a youthful innocence vibe and more of a teenager type deal. They clearly leaned very heavily into her being a kid mentally, what with all her doodles in the section 6 office space and the ABCs books, so i guess changing her voice again makes sense. Though i have no idea why they didn't simply get the 1.1 voice actress to redo the lines with the new direction.

Yeah I got too used to 1.1's voice lines. 1.0 and 1.3 feel very similar, but I feel like 1.1 just captures that Oni gremlin-snack-fiend vibe so well. Especially in the Hollow Zero levels where she's constantly asking about snacks. The new 1.3 voice sounds like a bit like Ash but it's also softer in parts and feels like off kilter compared to the rest of the voices, where those in your 3-man cell or even compared to the Virtual Vengeance storyline. I don't know what HoYoverse were thinking with this one.
