This Dodge Viper GTS-R, driven by Florent Moulin, is an absolute beast. With around 750PS from an 8.0-litre V10 engine it raced in GT1 and GT2 back in the early 2000s. At the 2022 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, Moulin attacked the Timed Shootout in his Playstation liveried beast.

@@streetfighter4006 don't care. If i was a multi-millionaire i'd rather have the viper, it actually has racing pedigree and looked better than the murci. Murcielago did not accomplish anything near what the Viper GTSR did. Looks are subjective, and i prefer the Viper's looks. Performance is objective, and the Viper demolished other cars in its class.

You may be surprised at how much the racing GTS-R models had the engine pushed back nearly behind the front axle, further than stock Vipers. It allowed much better weight distribution and fully independent front suspension.
@griffinfaulkner3514
@griffinfaulkner3514 Жыл бұрын
@t3hgir The Viper has always had fully independent front and rear suspension, with the engine shoved back quite literally as far as it could physically go.
@t3hgir
@t3hgir Жыл бұрын
@@griffinfaulkner3514 while the stock vipers may have had independent suspension I'm absolutely certain the GTS-R project found that if they moved the engine back (requiring many other modifications obviously) they could improve performance. The Corvette racecars did a similar thing compared to production vettes.
@griffinfaulkner3514
@griffinfaulkner3514 Жыл бұрын
@t3hgir That's probably down to the size of a sequential transmission compared to the T56 you'll find in a standard Viper. To be fair, I don't think there were any other transmissions available at the time that could handle that much torque, but it's absolutely massive when you put it next to a race gearbox. Just changing that out probably freed up a ton of room.

@vaenii5056
@vaenii5056 Жыл бұрын
That hardly applies to Viper though. The roadgoing versions may have unpredictable handling characteristics, not sure, but basically every driver who has raced with Vipers will tell you they are pretty easy to drive. Even Ben Collins who recently had the chance to drive one used for 24 Hours of Le Mans described the car as surprisingly docile in the comment section. I mean they are front engine cars and seen lots of success in the hands of both professional and amateur drivers. Obviously they cannot behave that erratically or otherwise they wouldn't been as successful and popular. The V10 engine can produce lots of torque and power when unrestricted but that's about it - that alone does not make a car tricky to drive. Even in this video you can see some wheelspin but the driver still has complete confidence to push the car in Goodwood Festival. They were simply great race cars and I think they deserve to be respected as such. What comes to older rear and mid engine cars, those indeed can be tricky to drive, because especially inexperienced drivers can easily put themselves into position where the loss of control is sudden and nearly impossible to correct. Because of weight distribution they really want to swing around.

Most would hate to know that the V-10's in the Vipers were designed and engineered by Lamborghini...😏
@zethloveless7238
@zethloveless7238 Жыл бұрын
No it was not. It was recast in aluminum by Lamborghini because they were owned by Chrysler. Five working prototypes were contracted and Lamborghini came up with a design that had no consideration for low torque, produce-ability, or reliability. Lamborghini wanted the aluminum engine to be sleeveless which triggered off alarms for bore recession in the Chrysler engineers. Team Viper took the engines back and redesigned every part, but using inspiration from some of what Lamborghini did. So no not really bro.
@daedalus_20v
@daedalus_20v Жыл бұрын
The Viper engine was designed, engineered, and prototyped as an iron block LA V8 with two added cylinders... by Chrysler. Lamborghini helped Dodge convert the iron block design to aluminum because of their experience (you can't just put aluminum into an iron mold and come out with something as strong). Lamborghini also helped design the water jackets for the Gen-1 heads. That's it. The Viper V10 is also not a "truck motor" before anyone brings up that "fact." A more accurate statement would be to say that many Lamborghini owners would hate knowing the company's current success in America is almost entirely due to Chrysler's ownership in the 90's, having created a US dealer network and consistent presence. 😏
