CORRECTION: at 1:30, I got displacement mixed up with number of cylinders. The Corvette has 10 liters, while the Viper has 10 cylinders. I made a goof when I said, "The Corvette has almost 10 liters, the same displacement as the Viper." Sorry about that!

DtRockstar1 : Its all good. The Ryan Falconer V12 I remember well. 600 cubes of fun. GM Powertrain also continued to show stop with periodic 90 degree V12s based on the Small Block Chevrolets. Its great to see it in its now safe environment. It could have been lost so easily. Its such a grear machine.

11.6 @133!!! What?! Awesome! Great qtr. mile timeslip - even for today. That's just as fast as the test results Car and Driver magazine obtained for a McLaren F1 in 1997, and that was a nearly million-dollar car! Love C4's. My first Corvette was a Polo Green, tan int., tan top C4 convertible. Gorgeous car. My dad bought it for me as a graduation present because I had nearly all A's in college. I was so happy - but it's screwed with a lot of people's heads; they just couldn't handle it... I've purchased 10 more Vettes since. 1 more C4 (1996), 5 C5's (1999-2004 -2 ZO6s), and 4 C6's (2008-2011, including a 2010 ZR1). Great job on this documentary; I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So many talking about how bad it sounds. Yeah, at first I was like, "What the Fuck!!??"....but started thinking, maybe they didn't have a flat plane crank in it, then they said it was originally a "marine engine" so it's probably angled differently than what a Ferrari or Lamborghini V-12 is angled at. Firing order of the pistons are probably different too. Then the exhaust is not the tuned titanium exhausts that we have come use to hearing from Ferrari V-12's, or Lamborghini V-12's.... Just a few factors to think about. With saying all that, I'm still sure it could probably use a good tune up.

The engine sounds like it’s too big, as if it makes all the power at a much lower rpm like an industrial engine. All I hear is muffler on this thing, and it doesn’t sound much like a proper v12

The Viper didn't have a 10-liter-displacement. It was a 10cylinder, 8.4 Ltre.

Don't think its the engineer so much as the fact nobody wants to tear down and rebuild an engine that nobody has worked on, can't find parts for, and has no idea how the thing is even put together.

@@RidinDirtyRollinBurnouts It's like an LS but with 4 more cylinders lined up, what's so complex about it? It's just a longer V8 lol. Parts might be difficult to find, but they're in Bowling Green heart of GM manufacturing, I'm sure they can work some magic.

That crazy V12 Falconer engine was so powerful, it could shred the rear tires or burn the clutch to an unfamiliar driver. After testing the quarter-mile on this beast, they didn't bother to verify its top speed. The side pipes and wheels were changed and sent to the museum. The other monster Corvette tested then was the Callaway Twin-Turbo, now that was the "Sledgehammer". :-)

It sounds like it wasnt running on all 12 cylinders, smoke is most likely the raw fuel, hardened valve seals, possibly washed out rings from the missfire if its been ran a lot like that. Id love to straighten it out. Glad it didnt fall in the hole

Hello DtRockstar1 my first Corvette was a 84 and it had been completely restored as I had just bought I did modify the twin throttle body just like the old guy would like lingenfelter on the intake and I got it up to 189mph it was fast and fun and not bad on gas modifying can be fun to do and made it go with no problems but unfortunately I had to sell it but one day I will buy another one or two that v12 Corvette is one I would love to have or build one one day I love Corvette motor cars completely Peace

1:32 "The same displacement as a Viper." INCORRECT. The Viper V10 was 8L (488 cid) from 1992-2002, 8.3L (506 cid) from 2003-2012 and 8.4L (512 cid) from 2013-2017.
