TCI came up with a very innovative way to convert a GM 4L80E electronic 4-speed overdrive transmission into a 6-speed, and now they've got adapter bellhousings to make it fit GM, Ford, and Chrysler engines.

very nice i was actually thinking about fitting a Borg warner 4 speed auto to an Australian hemi 265 and was thinking about linkages and setting it up so you can only select 2,3,D as it is column shift , this is a nice set up these guys have created.

A great thing but oh god the effing price! Ffaarr out... I'd like one of these in my 1980 SIII V12 Jag but the expense is hard to justify in a car that is worth less than the cost of the tranny. We'll see. Maybe their 5sp valve body in a 4L80e (with adapter plate), a custom converter and ECU, and a Mitsubishi Shifter from a front drive V6 for about $3k might be more doable. Hell, for $6Large I could get a whole 6.0 Liter V12 and 4sp auto front cut from an X300 V12, except I don't like HE V12s much - they're nowhere near as sweet revving and smooth.
