Oh, absolutely.....The Vishnu Sahasranamam and the Lalitha Sahasranamam are the repository for names for children in South India, with guidance from our elders and parents. In our family (Fijian) we have 3 prathah: 1 is Namkaran, 2 is Rashi Naam, 3 is the first word a mother says when she looks at her child. The letters chosen for my brother were Bi, Ji, Je, etc so my parents chose the name Binay and he was continuously sick until my grandfather advised them to change it with one from another letter. In my area back in the day, when infant-death-rates were very high, babies born after 6-7 dead siblings were deliberately named silly names because of this superstition that a bad name will make them undesirable to death/Yamraj. So some of my old relatives have names like Kachra, tatru, bhikari, bhikku, fakir, etc. So having a 'Kunaam' now might not actually be that bad.😂

😂😂😂 I knew one man Raja and his wife's name was Akhila. But his daighters name he kept, was Rakhila, or as they spelled it, Ragila. A very unique name, he claimed. In the whole State you will never find a name like this. I had to agree with that! There was one small boy I knew many years back called Nishachar, and one Swami heard it and he laughed and got angry, both and told his parents to change it. Now he is Hrishikesh. Like this people make so many stupid names. I tell people to look at the various Sahasranaams, and select names from that, but they think those names are old-fashioned, and they instead select some crazy name from some online site or app. Imagine putting some stupid name on children and feeling proud of it, not thinking about the child's durdasha for the rest of its life!
