@Druid of Scosglen Such a heart warming story! I've never believed that "bikers are scary/dangerous" stereotype, even as a child I thought they were cool (probably because my dad was friends with so many that *loved* to have me on their laps and drive around the capital. I haven't asked my sister about this in a while, but their "branch" of DACA (I say branch, because I believe it's an international organization, and we live in Sweden), but she was like a "contact person" for a teen girl that had been in some bad situations. Last time she spoke about her, they'd been out for coffee (classic Swedish "fika", aka some little sweat treat to eat and whatever drink of choice) and were planning for the girl's graduation (9th or 12th grade I believe) as she didn't have any family that would be there. Actually it must have been the 12th grade one, and she'd been to her 9th grade graduation 3 years prior. My sister, always being the sweetheart that she is, even offered to do her makeup and hair (like she did when I graduated 12th grade), and then took the girl out to a celebratory dinner afterwards.

It depends on the home. Some are wonderful. My mom hasn’t been so happy in years and I’m so grateful!! She has early dementia and severe mobility issues, but she now has friends she can enjoy, activities to do, and she feels useful. Key thing is do your research!!! I spent hectic weeks pouring over accreditation reports, grievance claims, committee meetings, etc. I toured the place 3 times and spoke to staff, residents and families. Everyone was so happy to tell me stories and answer any questions. Sometimes there is no other choice. Just don’t take everything at face value and make sure to keep on tabs on the situation. There are definitely bad places…but the good ones do exist.

@@VelociraptorAnimationsah bro. I'm a feminist, and wouldn't call you sexist for wanting equality. The issue is the patriarchy oppresses men, too, and instead of making allies people make enemies. Take r ape, for example. In some states in the US, you can get a longer and quicker jail time for possession than you can for r ape, and many women won't even report because they will be attacked if they do. I was a s exual assault forensic examiner and r ape doctor in the military, and none of my patients felt comfortable reporting their assault, even with medical testimony, because they knew what the men and command teams would do to them. That's a clear sign of a s exist society, where women can't even get justice for saying "no." That same system screws over men, too, though. Because women are seen as the inferior s ex object, assault is naturally correlated with women. Women are seen as "weak." So what happens when a male is assaulted by a woman, or a boy by his mother? No one will believe him because "women are weak." Even though it happens In other words, the same s exism--treating women as objects--ends up hurting men. Because if a woman is an object, and that object outperforms a man, he is also no longer human. But if a woman is a person who should be treated equally to a man, then a man who loses to a woman has just lost to another human. There is no extra shame, because they're equal. So the patriarchy is real. The basic evidence lies in what happens to a guy if he's beaten by a girl in something. Is he then seen as lesser of a man? Then this means women aren't equal yet. We need to keep fighting for equality for women until these things change. But men also need to be in that fight, because until women are equal, you aren't, either.

@@1roxyfan491Nah, don't generalize. There are crazy people out there, but most feminists just want to be treated like humans. Any time you "these people" anyone you shoot down all possibilities for future discourse, man.

@becominghero9754 but a man could falsely be accused of.. those things, no evidence, and get locked up (it HAS happened). Also, men get little to no support for that kind of thing.

There is always hope for humanity. The thing is, hope is just a bit of a sneaky bastard, who is WAAAAY to much into hide and seek. So you really got to find him a couple times before you're really sure it's actually there. Which it naturally is.
