Woah idk how I found this but it's really wacky sounding and I love it.
@beheld1652 жыл бұрын
Maybe because of the use of microtonal intervals, which give some detune feelings and sound harsh in some chords

I do notice possible traces of the frustrating limitations of most microtonal implementations. The cool clonking and sweeping chords on piano(?) are in a relatively limited range of less than one octave, which doesn't bother me but then I think about how easy it usually is to write wide-ranging keyboard or synth parts and how that is lost when I map 31 to my keyboard. Also the piano sounds a little like the timbres are bent very far from other notes. At any rate I love Vacant Vibe and would love to hear the tune expanded!

Really great track. The way you make the off-sounding chords resolve in such unique, jazzy and smooth ways here is really amazing. So much microtonal music I've heard is strident and atonal, but this really feels like every chord is meant to be there if you know what I mean.

Dunno why this video was recommended to me, but i love the atmosphere this song gives! What's microtones btw?
@beheld1652 жыл бұрын
Really don't know too, but I appreciate your feedback! So, microtones are smaller intervals between two notes than usual, which make some chords too flat or too sharp for exemple, and give some weird and original feeling to the music. In this case, the octave (the space between a note and same note in higher tone) is divided in 31 intervals/notes, but usually, we listen and compose music which is divided in 12 intervals/notes. I swear it's a little bit clearer now, and if you appreciate this concept, you definitely have to check out some others microtonal artists out of the tube !

@@beheld165 oo sounds interesting, thanks for explanation, any recommendations on other microtonal artists?
@beheld1652 жыл бұрын
@@saisidarth9058 sure! If you want some microtonal pop/rock, you can search for Xotla or Brendan Byrnes, for trippy electronical tunes Hexana/Nae Ayy/Sevish/Sven Karma, for more classical stuff Norokusi or Randy Wells, and for random funny microtonal pieces Stephen Wiegel. Special thinking for my favorite artist, Benyamind! There are lot of artists I forget to mention, so I swear you gonna loose your way in this weird world, good luck!
