Winthrop is a quaint little town on the east side of the North Cascade Mountains in Washington. It was fairly thriving as a mining town in the late 1800s, but by 1915 most of the mines had shut down and the town was pretty much abandoned. But in the late 1960s Washington state highway 20 was nearing completion, and a group of businessmen decided to rebuild Winthrop as it existed around 1900. In other words, nowadays it's pretty much a tourist trap. But still a lot of fun. Winthrop pics in other posting.
The pictures in this video were taken during our stay at a resort called Sun Mountain Lodge which is about 15 miles south of Winthrop. Fantastic views of the North Cascades. A truly delightful place. Unfortunately we were only able to spend one night there. Here's some pics I took..
