Hey there, and welcome to Hoover ASMR! So, you may be wondering: Hoover, a vacuum cleaner company… doing ASMR? It's not a fever dream: you are, in fact, tuned in to a long form vacuum white noise video where we vacuum a carpet for a few hours. Frankly speaking, this is something we've been wanting to join in on for a while now.
Note: we are not professional ASMR-tists - we've been making vacuums for over 100 years, but making ASMR with our vacuums is 100% a 2020 first. But we hope you find some calm relaxation in your day or night by listening in on the sweet, sweet ASMR sounds of our HEPA+ cordless vacuum.

Hi Hoover - I normally wouldn't be into a corporate channel, but I do appreciate you putting this up. It's great. As you know, some people really, really enjoy the sound of a vacuum cleaner. Ever since I was a kid, it gave me chills. These days I have a KZbin playlist of vacuum cleaner sounds that I put on before bed most nights. The sound gives me a lot of comfort, especially when I'm feeling anxious. For context, I"m a man in his 40s :) This is a great video because: 1) It's long 2) At no point does the vacuum stop or do you hear annoying clicking (such as when someone changes the setting of the vacuum). 3) It seems like the vacuum is picking up stuff, but there's not big, overly crunchy items that will distract me. Some people like that, but I don't. 3) The person is actually vacuuming a room while the camera/mic are in a fixed place, as opposed to just recording the sound of a vacuum cleaner that is just sitting there I'm going to add this to my playlist!

I will echo everything that Michael H said as our preferences seem to align. While not necessary for ASMR, some folks prefer the screen to go dark after a few minutes if they use these videos to fall asleep. Just a thought for future video ideas. Quality work on this one and the sound is deep as opposed to “whining” which works great with the forward/back oscillation.

I remember fondly the smell of the hoover bag when it was full of debris when it was time to swap the bag my mother would let me change it for her this was a big deal for a ten year old me I approached it like a surgeon who about to do an operation the nylon bag had a zip which you had to open first then you had to undo the bag which was full to the brim I would lay the bag on the kitchen table which had newspaper laid on it to catch the dust then it was time to fit the new bag once that was done my mum would let me check the fan belt to see if it too needed changing this was my favourite the belt was a small rubber ring which you had to fit in a figure of eight way then you would put the front plate back on zip up the nylon bag which dangled on a wire spring which hooked on to the metal arm of the hoover then it was time to switch it on job done those were the days 😂❤

Ok so I don't even know if it was a Hoover but back like 35ish years ago my parents had a vacuum that I actually recorded myself with while I was vacuuming my room. Taking lots of time of course. I even looped it which was more work with tapes back then compared to nowadays. Sadly, all I remember is that it was orange. Not a lot I know 😔 It had the most perfect sound. To me at least. Made me feel safe and warm.

Just found this - been an avid fan of vacuum asmr for a long time and so shocked to see that I haven't come across this sooner. The quality is a lot higher than most of the videos I've watched. If you do intend to do more ASMR videos (which I strongly suggest you do) I do have some feedback. 1. Consistency is key: breaks in the sound are distracting, and other sounds are distracting too. Some people like additional things like rain apparently in the background but I myself don't really see that as appealing. 2. Variation is also key: videos that record one vacuum sound and play it on repeat for 10 hours are not interesting, eventually your brain catches on to the pattern and will start mapping out what sounds go where, I want to zone out not freak out about patterns. 3. Many vacuums have different sounds, I tend to like ones with a little bit of a higher pitch, but also like lower ones like this for sleep. Becuase people seem to have a preference it's important not to mix them! Keep one sound per video 4. Spotify: start a Spotify channel for this, please! Most people have some sort of Spotify device in their house which would make sleeping a breeze with some nice Hoover asmr!

I would like to ask the author, do you really record the white noise video recording all day long? Is there a powerful version of the white noise of the vacuum cleaner?

My first child, born in 2001, had frequent colic spells. One day, in line at the grocery, my baby kept crying, and a nice lady tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I had ran a vacuum to calm her down. When I got home, I turned on my Hoover Elite Supreme and BOOM! Asleep! I then made several audio tapes and used them in the car. (But here is where the story gets interesting). I taught 6th grade language arts, and we had to listen to a Shakespeare audio activity. I pressed the wrong play button (double cassette player), and the vacuum tape started playing. Embarrassed, I stopped the tape and was going to switch. But several of the students asked if I would let it play in the background; they said it was a great noise for the background. This set up a tradition for several years to come. I literally would have students to ask if I would play the vacuum tape, especially during quizzes and tests. To this day, I get former students, now parents themselves and using videos like this to soothe their babies, sharing stories of the class vacuum tape. I hope you realize that these videos are a great resource for sleeping, but also offices and classrooms!

Great question! It's because the brush roll is constantly rotating in one direction (forward), so when you pull against it with the machine to go backward, it'll make a different sound than pushing forward with it. Hopefully that made sense!
