My brain is trying to work that out too. At first doesn't seem to make sense, cause you would think a air tight seal is only as good as it's weakest point. But, actually, i think you could lift like 1 million or 10 million pounds with a single vacuum.. all you need is a large enough closed container to just pump the air out (with the vacuum over the course of time, and you would need to also need a large surface area in which to lift the weight (for example.. have each square foot of area needing to lift only like 10 pounds.)
@cryptfire3158
@cryptfire3158 4 жыл бұрын
just like i'm certain i could lift a fairly heavy car with 1 hand (with the right setup). If your wondering how this would work.. think about how bike gears are arranged, you could likely pull a semi truck with a bike if they made a bike that could gear that low (and assuming you somehow had enough traction (maybe you have spikes on your wheels). You would need to pedal like 10 times for just 1 foot of distance. So you wouldn't go far, but you could do it.

@@cryptfire3158 yeah idk how this makes sense, i thought a smaller area would suction more, cos its the same amount of "pull" coming from the vacuum, just in a more concentrated area. Just like if you concentrate light with a magnifying glass, it's stronger at the concentrated point. This really did surprise me.

@@Cleric2g i have since disproven my argument but basically it was if the vacuum of space creates a force in the low pressure condition then wouldn’t that same force pull the air off the earth into the infinite vacuum? Really when you think about it it comes down to the very last top layer of the atmosphere and the forces at play between the force of the vacuum pulling the air away and the force of gravity pulling the air down. Im not a mathematician and i cant calculate the forces but its logical that this could balance out.

Hmm... so why isn't the vacuum of outer space pulling our atmosphere apart??
@MulleDK19
@MulleDK19 5 жыл бұрын
Because there isn't much to pull. It's not solid atmosphere followed by vacuum. It's a gradient. Gravity is dependent on distance, thus the air at the surface is a lot denser than that at the edge of the atmosphere, which is why you can't breathe well at high altitudes, because gravity is weaker there, making the air less dense, thus thinner, and thus the concentration of oxygen is less. At the edge of the atmosphere there's so little air, that the pressure difference between the atmosphere and the vacuum of space is almost the same. So it's not a case of lots of air vs vacuum like if you sucked out all the air of an aquarium on earth and then made a hole in it; rather it's a lot of air, followed by less air, and less air, and less air, until you have next to no air, which is then next to a vacuum; and vacuum is not gonna have a super pull on such a small amount of air. It can be easier to understand if you realize that a vacuum doesn't suck anything. A vacuum is a space that has no matter, it's empty. What causes the air to flow into a vacuum, is the air pressure. The vacuum is empty, and thus the air molecules are pushed by other air molecules into the empty space. Like if you were to compress a bunch of cotton pads together and let go, they'll push each other to where there's more room. Our atmosphere *does* seep into space, however; several hundred tons per day.

@@MulleDK19 the problem is gravity has never been proven to exist it's never been able to redefine through experiments it's only a concept or Theory we really don't know what it is that holds things to the Earth other than buoyancy and density. The pressure of a vacuum around a bubble our atmosphere should be far more pressure was that a simple vacuum cleaner I guess the point I'm saying is the science that we say explains all of these things really doesn't. But thanks for your feedback.
@MrPunch09
@MrPunch09 5 жыл бұрын
@@vinnyg101 Buoyancy and density does not explain away gravity. If you remove "g" from the math then buoyancy and density are inert. It is literally why and how the theory of gravity came to be. Scientist use the word theory as a place holder, as if to say until a better theory is presented and passes. I'm sure there's videos of gravity experiments in space, but if you're this far down the rabbit hole you'd probably simply dismiss them. Whereas science is always willing to abandon previously held misconceptions. A hollow earth, flat earth or polygon earth would be great for science, but none of these can be proven.

@@MrPunch09 there is no credible experiments that verify gravity exist..... gravity is a theory....gravity. it's silly to think that something that's never been verified proven or understood is a fact it's both absurd and arrogant how foolish to think of it as a placeholder people are not stupid only stupid people would think that not saying you're stupid but really come on guy...LoL!! Most people talk about gravity don't even understand what it is they think it's the simple Act of an object falling from one height to a lower height from any point or object on earth or water....lol.

@2010realitycheck True.. DUNCE... SO, The pull of Gravity is more stronger on objects that have a greater mass, A car, a dump-truck, an 18 wheeler, so on so on... The pull of Gravity alone should have been able to break that "suction seal" created by this household vacuum cleaner, as it was being pulled up by the crane. The crane was just the" tool" used in the experiment to lift the car...The crane is irrelevant here, were talking about the force of gravity it should have on a heavy object. They're not lifting the car with the vacuum, they;re lifting the car with a crane. The vacuum is just attaching the lift-palates to the car. Let's see them start with the crane holding the palates a few inches _above_ the car, and then turn on the vacuum and see if the car rises. (It won't.)
