Can you buy these batteries already connected? I don't have a spot welder....

My mother has the 16V variant and is complaining about loss of battery capacity. I guess this is "normal" for these Bosch vaccums after reading the comments. I was hoping to just swap a battery pack. This whole contacts soldering is above what I'm willing to do. Is there really no easy replacement spare part?

Thank you for sharing 👍 my vacuum is around two years old and it last less than 5 minutes after fully recharged, unfortunately can't fix it at home without the welder. Wondering if you have another option to do that.

The BMS on those vacuum cleaners are problematic. It is the same machine inside, as it is with Nilfisk... Gorenje... Grundig... Nilfisk had withdrawn a complete series of those vacuum cleaners due to the faulty / problematic BMS. I do the repair service, and this problem is so common. In the end, if BMS is an issue... I just throw it out, and install the 4S or 5S BMS (depending on the model), do some rewiring and connect the mechanical switch directly to the motor. There is a plenty of room inside the case, so you can do whatever necessary.
@azislo6 ай бұрын
Zockyvet, one question. If you install own BMS - can the brush motor (not main motor) handle maximum voltage of batteries (5x4.2V =21V), or do I need buck voltage converter to step-down the voltage to rated voltage of brush motor, it says 16.8V on it? And yes, original BMS sucks, I have installed 5S2P inside and it failed in one year (red-blue light blinking)..

I had three similar Bosch vacuum cleaners in my family. Unfortunately, all three broke within two years. I will never again buy a vacuum cleaner with a built-in battery.

CMC DIY, what voltage is going down to the brush motor? Is it max 21V or is lower than that? Motor for brush is rated at 16.8V..

I have exactly the same battery pack from a BBHL2D1 vacuum cleaner. The machine would turn off after 10 seconds even when fully charged. I took the pack apart and every one of the five cells was over 4.0 volts. The combined voltage was 20.6 volts. Why would this be a problem? Could the PCB be the problem? Will it be better to discharge and check the capacity of every battery? Thanks for your great teardown film.
@dr.sorbonne310115 күн бұрын
Even if your batteries reach 4.20V after charging, this doesn't necessarily mean they are in perfect condition. They may have reduced capacity or high internal resistance, which can affect their performance under heavy load. Capacity and discharge tests under load would be necessary to assess their true condition.

Nice tutorial! I changed the batteries few months ago in my vacuum. It worked fine for these months, but now it keeps blinking blue light (just blue, not red and blue) and it shuts down after just few seconds. I cannot find what does this mean, other than contradicting information (either motor is using too much current, either battery is overheating, or battery is dead). I checked each battery individually and they all seems fine. Any idea what this could mean? P.S. The motor keeps running fine when when I take it apart (i.e. when it idles with not resistance, no vacuuming). The batteries also seems to keep voltage fine. Only when I put it together and I start to vacuum something (i.e. when motor is experience drag and resistance) it keeps flashing blue lights and shuts down. P.P.S Batteries are also good quality (SAMSUNG) and same specs than original batteries.

Hello. That's right, the LED flashes blue when there is a high current consumption and switches off to protect the batteries. Try to clean all the filters and start it empty without vacuuming

I have changed the old batteries, they were 2100 mah to 4800 mah, but it does not accept charging. Is this a reason to increase the capacity of the 4800 mah battery?
@CMCdiy Жыл бұрын
I don't think that those cells have 4800 mAh, they are too big, maybe it's just written on them, but in reality they have a different amperage. Increasing the capacity should not affect the charging, only the charging period increases. You have to be careful with these cells when you mount them so that all cells have the same voltage

Thank you very much for this video. Now I feel confident enough to try changing the batteries myself. The only thing that worries me a bit is that I don't have that welder as you do. Will soldering be good enough? Thanks again!
@Tegelane5 Жыл бұрын
Soldering is good enough, if You know how to solder well. You have to be quick and specially careful near + terminal as whole body is connected to - and it's very near to +. Isolated by just little plastic. I soldered together Lithium battery for older Bosch NimH vacuum, has worked for a year or so.
@janosvarga99977 ай бұрын
I soldered a pack of them 6 mo ago and they work fine. I used tiny bit of (plumber) flux which made the soldering easier (less time, less heat). Just found that flux has to be removed thoroughly otherwise it causes corrosion on longer term. Also, it is important that the cells have equal state of charge when mounted. Seems as if the BMS calls off the charging when any of the cells reached full charged status.
@BarbarinoBosch11 ай бұрын
Hi, very helpful video, thanks a lot! I have 2 of these vacuum cleaners ("16V" and "20V"), both batteries were done after 1.5 years. So I changed them and replaced with even higher quality batteries, 3.000 mAh from muRata. Very good cells. While the 16V (4s) model works fine even after months with this replacement, the 20V (5s) model only did a couple of weeks. It shuts down very quickly (1 minute). When disassembling again and utilizing my balance charger and IR tester it seems: All cells OK. When single-cell IR/voltage monitoring is on and I switch on the device, the voltage drops immediately heavily for all cells. And reaches shut-off-voltage after 1 minute. When recharging from that point with my balace charger, it shows: The cells are near full, all equally voltage of 3.9V (w/o load). Only 250 mAh were used up. So, my feeling is, that the current of the motor/electronics is too high (the motor also sounds a little like a turbine). Could that be true? Is there a chance to limit the discharge current in this device? What caused this problem? electronics? motor? Would be great if you woule give me some suggestions..thanks!
@gb614erg10 ай бұрын
Pretty sure you can not limit discharge current. What the exact model of batteries you used? I mean, what is max continuous discharge rate of those batteries?

Nice and helpful video but I don’t have machinery and skills for this shit. I’ll never buy a vacuum like this again, that’s for sure. Absolutely ridicilous to assume everyone is professional. Why is it not that plug&play? A big design issue from Bosch. Oh I guess it’s not accidental isn’t it..?

That is correct. A vacuum cleaner for short use, after the batteries run out it will end up in the trash. They could use the same batteries in this vacuum cleaner as in the Bosch tools
