I am wondering how much texture your floors have. I have a few vac mops and steam mops and rotating brush mops and it just took me using all of them to get the deep dirt in the textured part of my floor. Only steam and rotation got the dirt out of the textured part and even then I needed to wipe the dirt up with a cloth after that and mop again.

@vacuumwars One thing ALL vacuums need to do- change the color of the piece that touches baseboards. For the love of God, why do they make them dark colors , every time I vacuum a baseboard it leaves dark marks on it. Make those parts white! maybe as an influencer you can suggest this to them :)

@marambula18 күн бұрын
good idea. they most likely contribute to dirtier grout. juts like all mopping would without specific grout cleaning. Grout cleaning whether by hand or by counter rotating brush or rotary cleaner uses bristles which will better physically contact the grout lines vs these rolling microfiber hard floor cleaners.

My kitchen floors get greasy from splatter from my stovetop. My robot vacuum (Dreame L10s Ultra) stands no chance in mopping up all that and just ends up spreading it around the floor whereas my hard floor cleaner (Narwal S20 Pro) sucks it all up and makes the floors look spotless. I think that's really the value proposition for the hard floor cleaners: they are able to pull up a lot more grime before becoming soiled themselves, whereas the robot vacuums have a very finite amount that they're able to pick up at a time

I purchased my Tineco Floor One S5 Steam in August of 2024 and LOVE it. I own several robot vacuums, but neither of them have any real effective mopping abilities (the Switchbot K10+ can mop, but with a wet pad like a Swiffer). My house is 100% hard floors and I have a pet, so being able to mop so effectively with only distilled water is wonderful.

I think the big difference is that robot vacuums can only pick up as much dirty water as the pads can absorb (Plus maybe a small amount in the vacuum). Comparatively the floor cleaners wash the floor and then suck up that dirty water allowing you pick up more of the dirt rather than just spreading it around. We've seen this to some extent in the old glow in the dark liquid tests where robot vac mops would eventually become overloaded and then proceed to drag that liquid around the rest of the area. In the end I think that if you have a self cleaning station robot vac/mop and start with a clean floor and daily cleanings it likely won't matter too much but if you have heavy traffic, don't run the machine everyday, winter salt water slush, etc then I think that's where the floor cleaner will shine.
@seanhepner781319 күн бұрын
@@jacobpeacock5782 one could always program their robot mop routine to go over an area multiple times as well, say the kitchen or entryway. Roborock can do this, and you can also set intervals on their mops for how long they should go inbetween each mop washing.

I have the bissell crosswave hydrosteam, and assuming robot mops do go over an area twice, then I think you’re spot on about how similar they can be! I realized while using the hydrosteam over the past year that it’s most effective when you go over a surface once, then skip back over it 10-15 seconds later. My theory is, the water from the first pass has had some time to settle into the stain and loosen it up, so by the time you come around the second time, it’s ready to get wiped right up. I imagine a robot mop can essentially do the same thing by moving slowly and passing over an area twice.

I own Tineco Floor One S5 Steam (thanks to this channel), my use case for it (over potentially a robot vacuum cleaner) is that I don't need to think about the objects on the floor that will possibly get the robot stuck each time it runs. When I am using Tineco each cleaning run I can decide on the spot do I move a particular item or no (depending on how dirty I think the area is) avoiding manula work of just picking up and movig somewhere every item every time the robot is scheudled for a cycle. Also in my experience long hair was getting stuck badly in the robot vacuum cleaner I used to have, detangling the brush was a nighmare, in Tineco because of the thick brush it is very easy to deal with that and not very much gets stuck on the thinner sides (where the brush attaches to the vaccuum). Also using the steam version of hard floor cleaner gives me a little more assurance about the cleanliness of my floor without use of chemicals.

I have the s5 steam and the narwal Freo Z Ultra, and tbh the z ultra is amazing with obstacle avoidance. Almost no need to clean up before sending it out. It also has the best anti tangle brush. I personally have a Robo rock s7 with the ultra dock and it does a great job on the perfectly flat surfaces. But my house is older with some bigger gaps in the tile and when something gets into those cracks the robot doesn't have a chance. That is when I pull out the crosswave. Also if it is a larger liquid mess I don't want the robot to try to vacuum and dry it. I will use the dedicated wet mop for that.

I purchased the Tineco S5 after your last video and was impressed at first but now it drives me crazy. It constantly complains about emptying the dirty water tank when it's only 25% full. It wants to begin self cleaning cycle when I'm halfway done with my small kitchen even after cleaning the debris channel and roller by hand. It's also not very good with grout and leaves a 1" ring of dirt around the baseboards because the roller doesn't extend to the edge. AND I still wind up having to use the broom or vacuum or else my wife's hair gets wrapped around the roller. I think a spin mop and steamer that uses washable microfiber pads would be a better investment.

One story (my main) has a robot vac/mop combo, one story (bedrooms) has just a robot vac and one level has neither because its primarily just an entryway. Having a hardwood floor cleaner is nice if I need to get up more stubborn grime than the robot can or if I need to clean up a small mess. Its also handy if I need to mop either of the other floors that don't have a robot mop. I'd love to see a manufacturer make a way to comfortably clean stairs (hardwood, carpet, either). Its a royal pain to use a stick vac on them and even a small upholstery spot cleaner is a pain to do a deeper clean of the carpet on the stairs. I don't even need it to initially climb stairs, either since I'm willing to move it up each tread.

If you want to know how your test is flawed, leading your to incorrectly conclude that robovacs are better than mopvacs, watch the video “2024 ultimate robot vacuum and mop comparison” by “The Hook Up”… Basically, you didn’t use the white paper to wipe the floor afterwards to see if the floor was actually clean… you may not be able to see the stain, but most robovacs only spread the stains and ketchup around thin enough that you can see them anymore. But much of stain/ketchup would be still on the floor, you can see it if you wipe the floor afterwards with a paper towel.

I have two dogs that shed quite a bit, so I always have to dry vacuum (either run our robot or use a Dyson stick vacuum) before I use the Tineco. It takes several passes to clean up stuck on food, and it doesn't get close enough under the toe kick of the kitchen cabinets. It is loud, both when in use and during self-cleaning, that I can't use it during nap time. Our robot vacuum is a Ecovacs T20, and we can't use the mop feature because of the dog fur, and it leaves water on the floor around the station if we do. You should test the Moprobo. I absolutely love it.

The biggest plus of me for vacuum mops, is that they are much faster (obviously) and can clean larger spaces. Most robot mops drag around a dirty mop

Are the cordless steam options worth it to do a review on?
@pspr3318 күн бұрын
I know this isn't a robot vacuum test but I'd love to see a video on previous gen(s) cleaning abilities Vs current gen to see how much of an improvement (if any?) there has been. I buy a lot of used tech because it's all very iterative these days and love getting value for money. Currently eyeing a barely used Deebot Ozmo X1 OMNI for £275 to upgrade my aging Ozmo 920.. but still unsure about it.

I use our hard floor cleaner for spot cleaning and cleaning in areas where our robot can't reach.

The obvious issue i see is what it you have multiple floors in your house you would need a separate robo vacuum for every floor?

Can you review the Shark Steam hard floor cleaner, they have one just like the hydro steam model. Just seen it lately. It has a spinning roller style instead of there solid pad one.

Do you use any of these hard floor cleaners in your own household?

I would love to see a test for how long it takes to send robots to spot clean. The only benifit I see for these mops are spot cleaning and a cleaning homes with multiple step-down spaces.

No review on narwal s20 pro? Heard it was the best on the market right now
@levyshai19 күн бұрын
i have a lot to say on this so I hope I get it all in one comment. I own a narwal s20 pro as well as dreame l20 ultra. I don't know if you tested the narwal but you really should. Either way a mop and a robot serves completely different purposes in a house with snall kids, I will send my robot to clean the mess on the floor after a meal , not only is cumbersome and takes longer while bothering everyone around, I just dont my robot to drive over rice and other sticky moist food. The other situation where the mop is the goto is after spills, when to just suck spilled watee or juice again this is no task for a robot. The last thing us obstacle avoidance still has a very long way to go so too many times you just don't want the robot to visit certain rooms, you just keep them out of the routine and use the mop every once a while. the last use case for the mop is the balcony, having a hard floor outdoors , curved for drainage and always dirty beacuse of all the dust outside .. if you feel like sitting there or letting the juds play there than a quick mop is much more handy

Same. I use it for babies but their is the Eufy Mach v1 pro that needs to be tested.

Automatic robot vacuumes are still laud. It makes them not great for families with pets (especially cats who can get scared easily by loud noises). They are also not great for smaller or more cluttered apartments. I think because of that the manual cleaners are safe to stay on the market.

Wet floors due to flatcoated retriever that drinks a lot and fills his mouth before leaving the bowl, wet bathroom floor mixed with kitty litter, a lot of mud in the hallway due to small children and stubborn stains that the q revo pro can't get rid of i simply use the wet/dry vaccum. Same goes for dog / cat puke or even when the youngest happen to miss the potty and pees on the floor. No issues or weird smells so far.

The hard floor cleaners excel at being a great wet/dry vacuum for cleaning up liquid spills
@ryantink596719 күн бұрын
you are also comparing a vacuum mop, which vacuums and mops at the same time….to the robots which do so separately, and their mopping feature is more akin to spin mops which probably do a better job than wet/dry vacuums. I haven’t seen any video comparing mopping power of spin mops vs wet/dry vaccuum in terms of mopping power.
