02:25 If you watch this scene, you'll realize that this is not a North Korean military training video from the 1980s, In the 1980s and early 1990s, it was not Kim Jong-il, but the dictatorship of Kim Il-sung, But in the 1980s, it is impossible to praise Kim Jong Il with his name Therefore, this is a film from the mid or late 1990s, and it cannot be a North Korean military training video from the 1980s

It's probable that this was from 1992. North Korea likely carried out exercises to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the KPA and Kim Jong Il was named supreme commander of the KPA in 1991, hence even if Kim Il Sung was still alive, referring to him as such is still logical as he was in the late stages of being groomed to be heir apparent.

North Korea maintained a string of small-scale attacks and raids on American troops throughout the 1960s and 1970s. North Korean pilots also flew in combat in Vietnam supporting the communist north and apparently shot down several American aircraft. Other than that, not much real experience.

That was back when the Soviet Union was providing them with money and military aid, and they had a decent leadership that wasn't off squandering everything the Soviets or Chinese gave them, they kept their stuff well maintained back then, and the S.koreans wasn't as advanced as they are now back then so they could've invaded with ease. But after the Soviet Union collapsed, all that money and military aid ceased, plus the leadership became terrible after the death of Kim iI Sung, they squandered everything, allowed their stuff to become damaged, unusable and their military stopped hardcore training, and they disregarded keeping a strong economy, which lead to the deterioration of the country as we see today. Granted, the leadership could have at least tried to fix it by having more relations with other countries instead of just China and being isolated, they shoulda copied China and eased off the restrictions on their markets and did what China has done, which was a hybrid system, partially free markets. North Korea could have had some Western companies move over there like they did with China and boom, North Korea would be less of a dumpy wasteland as it is now. I hope someday, they will see their errors and fix them, modernize and fix their broken system and copy Chinas path which has worked for them since the 80s!

@@rapid9534 Um Nope, they rebuilt after the war with SOVIET help! If you have ever picked up an actual history book instead of the made-up rubbish Western propaganda pushes in public schools, you would clearly see that North Korea rebuilt the country after the Korean War and they went on to become Rich due to many factors with Soviet Aid being the biggest as well as being a major exporter of Raw materials to Socialist countries at the time and they had a STABLE economy because there were no Heavy sanctions!!! They were also militarily advanced compared to South Korea which was poor and ill-equipped due to the Dictatorships they had that used all of S.Korea's money for the Military kinda like what Modern North Korea does. It was the 1990s when things went south for North Korea, they had no more Soviet aid, and no more exports to socialist countries because the ones in Eastern Europe died, and the rest went through financial stagnation like North Korea did and couldn't afford much plus the US Sanctions made it impossible to export.

​@@rapid9534of course North Korea was almost annihilate and eliminate by US in the 50s but still can't dissolve them or win the war. Remember the US were advanced in terms of technology after ww2 and still can't beat a Chinese troops that only equip with rifle or ammunition.
