Sidenote: When in the meditation chamber on Coruscant, it wasn't that he could be comfy. Instead, if was so he could meditate. See, Meditation in Star Wars does a lot more than calm ya down if you're Force-Sensitive. You can also do so to heal injuries, albeit slowly. One thing he tried to do every so often was heal his lungs, so he didn't need his respirator. However, due to A: his bottled up anger, B: his trauma, and C: the sheer damage his lungs took, this often ends up not working.
@lonestar20789 ай бұрын
and I'm reminded of what Sam Witwer said about Starkiller "meditating": being intense and not actually at peace because Vader was his master
@Fordo0078 ай бұрын
I remember in the Shadows of the Empire novel it went into how Vader could use the dark side to heal his wounds and how he hoped if he kept at it and got stronger in the dark side he could sustain the healing effect indefinitely and get out of the suit. It seemed the dark side healing was just temporary while the more common light side healing was longterm. At least that's what I inferred from the old EU continuity.
@Oodelally8 ай бұрын
The problem with dark side healing is that it requires continual and intense ruminations to fuel the healing trance. Vader felt joy when he realised he had healed parts of himself and therefore could not maintain it.

@@Oodelallythis situation has been bothering me for a long time now, how did anakin not know what force healing was? Like apparently grogu knew how to do it and he was apparently at the jedi temple training on coruscant at the same time as anakin. So how would anakin not know of this ability? And rey, someone with no jedi training somehow knew how to force heal. Please make it make sense for me
@Sarah_Kinz8 ай бұрын
@@Oodelallythat’s such a kick in the head. Anakin was always so afraid of being alone and losing everyone. And he did anything and everything to try and save padme. Even making a deal with the devil. But in the end? To save her all he had to do was be with her and be himself and not the twisted version the dark side made him. If he had just stayed anakin skywalker instead of letting Vader kill him, padme would still be here. In the end Vader got everything he wanted: fame, glory, palaces. Except padme. And in the end, he was alone.

I can imagine Vader fixing his Tie Fighter without the force, then getting absolutely furious when no one gets him a screwdriver. Vader: "Screwdriver... Screwdriver? SCREWDRIVER!! WHERE'S THE SCREWDRIVER!?!?!?"

In a way, that Coruscant temple saved him. Kept him thinking about how wrong he’d been long enough for Luke to come along and fully tip the scale.

Also important to note that Palpatine purposely had the surgery botched and used an older tech suit just to keep Vader in constant pain so that he could always immediately tap into those emotions of pain and anger

Eternal regret that would fuel his anger enough so he would remain Sidious' pet forever.

A monster who is responsible for killing billions and billions of people do not have present downtime. Most likely the ghosts of all his victims were torturing him every single moment of his life.

Bro made Starkiller in his free time to find creative ways to overthrow Lord Sidius in spite of his disabling limitations. Vaders goal was always betrayal and finding ways to betray without getting caught

The last time I saw the MMPR Red Ranger Macy’s balloon was in 2018. I was in the parade, marching behind the balloon, playing a clarinet and wearing a tricorn hat. It was my freshman year of high school. An absolutely unforgettable experience.

I think that’s probably why Palpatine gave Vader so much work to do. If Vader had to much time to sit down and think about everything. He probably would’ve realized Sidious couldn’t stop him if he wanted to quit.
